“Amazing stay. I traveled with 2 other young women (ages 21,21,20) and we felt incredibly safe the entire time. We ended up staying in the banana house, which is actually a seperate villa across a little road from the main part of the hotel, however it was gated, and this gate could be locked. The apartment itself was also gorgeous. The property is one of the few at this price range with a connecting beach, being on playa negra. It is around a 5 minute ride (15 minute walk) from puerto viejo city……
“The property is a mini animal sanctuary, with many agouti running around and sloths hanging in the trees. Many birds and frogs and even a kinkajou, although hard to spot. The hosts are very nice and helpful, Marise will make sure you and comfortable and Pierre will tell you all about the wildlife. The room is clean and comfortable, although there is no AC, so keep that in mind. It is walkable to Cahuita although a couple more min out of the way than some of the other hotels, wasn’t a problem to……
“Good location to explore the region, but the place is more appropriate for local (Costa Rica) families as there is a pool used by children and adults from afternoon till late evening.
Also they don’t give you any information about the places to visit in the region…. most of my questions got: “I don’t know” as answers and they were all simple like where to park and etc.”
“Umami was such a wonderful boutique hotel. The staff was so awesome and giving. The hotel itself was perfect for my solo trip. The middle of town and a short walk to the beach or several restaurants and markets. I especially liked the fact that you could interact with locals and not only tourists and it was only a tuk tuk ride away to really nice beaches further down the coast. So looking ready for my return to CR and will def be staying here!”
“Nice hotel with good breakfast. The staff was friendly. Good parking possibilities.
The only negative was that they did not serve any food (except breakfast) and that the roof made a lot of noise when it was raining (there are some kind of plastic protection on the roof of the room which make the rain sound a lot, hard to sleep without earplugs). ”
“It’s a family run business and the owner was super nice and helpful , the property was peaceful , the only noise was the wild animals on the property like howler monkeys and lots of exotic bird species , the owner prepared a papaya from the tree right in front of our room , it was delicious.
I would recommend this property for people that want a truly Costa Rican experience without all the crowds of the towns . Loved our stay at Casa Conley 10 out of 10 , can’t wait to visit again ✌”
“Hamid, the front Desk/Manager is absolutely Amazing… Super friendly and helpful.. the cabanas are small and sparse but don’t let that deter you… amazing flowers and Birds everywhere…just a short walk to the Beach…. Would recommend all day every day… for the money it will be hard to beat…..”
“Wunderbarer Aufenthalt, alles seeeehr sauber, tolle Aktivitäten und super netter Umgang untereinander.
Abfalleimer in den Zimmern wären komfortabler;) sonst wirklich alles Perfekt!”
“Elegant design and tasteful decoration with open air restaurant and quick walk to the beach. Staff was always busy cleaning walkways.
Room was poorly designed with clothes hangar over the bar area and nothing in the slot that looks like a closet. The door was made for ADA, but had to be unlatched from the floor and tri-folded to open it. Otherwise only about 20" wide.
There were notices that read "anything you need..just ask". But the few things I asked for weren't available.”
“We had an amazing time at El Encanto. Our room was comfortable and well outfitted, breakfast (and dinner) was tasty, the pools were great and the service was helpful and friendly. Our unexpected favorite part of the experience was the nature you could see from within the hotel walls - sloths (2)!, monkeys, frogs, iguanas and lots of birds. A great combo of luxury and nature. ”
