“On arrival the desk clerk was unable to find my booking and the manager was called. This proved to be an unhelpful experience even though the booking was found he stated that he couldn’t find confirmation of the payment, despite me showing him the confirmation emails from Hotel.com. He appeared completely uninterested leaving me to phone the UK landline available to me so they could resolve the matter. He then disappeared to his office leaving me to follow and enquire of the outcome after which……

“More than in other countries in Africa, hotel prices in Nigeria and hotel quality, i.e. room functionality and service, seem to be uncorrelated. It is, therefore, an art to find an acceptable-priced hotel with acceptable quality, instead of ending up in a terrible one with a high price tag. I stayed for two weeks on a business trip at Nanet Suites, and it revealed to be a very good choice for me. Not that this is my dream of a hotel, but its quality-price ratio is perfect.
