We are so happy with our week long stay at the Number One Oxford Street Hotel. It begin with the staff going above and beyond to extend a welcome to us as we traveled from the US for our first trip to Ghana. From the beautifully decorated hotel, to the super nice and helpful staff, to the spacious and grandiose rooms this hotel was more than expected. We were also in a great location and the surrounding area was safe and walkable. The daily breakfast buffet was amazing as well. The pool area looked great but we did not have a chance to visit. I cannot recommend this hotel enough! We would definitely stay here again.

Where Potential meets reality

Located in Accra’s vibrant Osu district, Number One Oxford Street Hotel & Suites has the potential to be a standout destination. My four-night stay, however, revealed a gap between its promise of luxury and the reality. The highlight of my stay was the exceptional service from my butler, Bismarck. His attentiveness and problem-solving elevated the experience. From arranging an external spa therapist when in-house services were unavailable to anticipating our needs, he was a shining star. Unfortunately, even his efforts couldn’t mask the hotel’s broader flaws. Cleanliness was a recurring issue. A lizard was left unattended by housekeeping, and worn towels arrived late despite repeated requests. These lapses undermined trust in the hotel’s standards. The pool, though serene, was surprisingly small for a luxury property. The bathroom design also frustrated—forcing guests to step into scalding water to adjust the temperature. Breakfast, in contrast, was a bright spot. A blend of continental staples and flavorful Ghanaian dishes, like a spicy tomato-based stew, reflected the care missing elsewhere. Confusion over outdated spa pricing further soured the experience. A listed 380 GHS massage was charged at 800 GHS, a clear issue in transparency. The location and staff were highlights, but operational issues hinder the hotel’s ability to justify its luxury positioning.

Initially happy as compared to other hotel we stayed in until the loud noise on Friday, Saturday, Sunday. You are in the center of the city with clubs. They state windows are sound proof but they aren’t. No accommodations for this. The party continues until 3-4 am. Water shut off for about 15-20 min. Lastly sewage leaked up into our bathroom and in the hallway and ruined some of our clothing. No accommodations when asked except for $87 off. Room was 625 USD per night.

The Number One Oxford Street Hotel & Suites was a true jewel of a find! From the positive check experience received thanks to Eben (Manager) to the attentiveness of Richard (Butler) and the in the heart location, I would recommend this hotel! The accommodations and food services were 5-stars. Everything was found as advertised. I will definitely secure this hotel again!

Nice but the place needs maintenance

The pool area is really nice, and the gym is really well equipped for a hotel gym. The staff were also all very nice, and the food was good (though wait times were slow, we waited over an hour for two club sandwiches when we were the only people at the pool area). The issue we had was that the room smelled really bad of mould, as did the corridors on the 8th floor. And overall the place needs to be maintained better. The tap in the kitchen was rusty and paint flaking off, there were cracks around the aircon vents. There were marks from years of wear & tear on the kitchen cupboards. The wallpaper was peeling off in the bedrooms. I think the place could do with a refresh, redecorate them, add more ventilation in the rooms to stop the mould.
