“Fantastic situation which suited us and our 2 dogs perfectly. You need to be organised with food due to the nearest shop being over 30 miles away but that being said we found some fantastic eateries on our road trips around the area. The negatives are that the ceiling are very low the stairs awkward and narrow and the condition is basic. Take chairs with you so that you can enjoy the sun trap garden. Luckily we had really good weather (last week in Apri)”

Self-catering was very easy with the well-stocked store nearby, as well as larger options not far away in Gairloch. “We loved our stay in Little Garve. The home was beautiful, with enough room for my husband and I and our 5 kiddos. We loved having a washer/dryer on the property and there is also a clothesline if you like the smell of fresh air. The supermarket was a close 20 minute drive and we ate all of our meals at home with a well stocked kitchen. “My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful three weeks at Foinaven, and had a couple of friends from home visit for a week during our stay. We flew in and out of Inverness and rented a car for a reasonable price so that we could take day trips here and there (we really didn’t need it much in Ullapool, except for larger grocery runs).
