The hotel was lovely. However the mattress on our bed was so hard, it was like sleeping on a box spring. There was an event going on in the park in front of the hotel, our room faced the park. The noise and music from the event started at 645am and could be heard very clearly through the walls. Not the fault of the hotel, but had we known how thin the walls were and how early the event started, I may have booked an ocean view room or asked for a room on the other side of the building. There were 2 windows in the room. One with black out shades and one with just a set of blinds. The blinds didn’t stop the sun from shining in the room early as well. Parking - the website states they have valet and a small self parking lot - which fills up fast. When we arrived at the hotel and asked about the parking we were told it was only valet or street parking for approx $3 an hour from 9am to 2am. No one acknowledged the self parking lot. I don’t think it exists. The website should be updated to reflect this. Overall I’d stay again, it was clean and close to everything near the boardwalk. I’d like to try a room facing the ocean.

All the staff, from valets, to bellmen, to front desk were extremely accommodating. Room was spacious. Oceanview room was very enjoyable. Housekeeping was a bit slow and not thorough but frirndly and respectful. We had to change our room once due to a water seepage on the floor from the air conditioner, and the correction was made immediately and with assistance moving our luggage. Free coffee in the lobby. Overall a very nice stay.

It’s a good clean hotel with great energy about history of Asbury Park. It’s right that beginning of a main boardwalk/beach entrance. Parking isn’t included with the stay and is pretty pricey at $60 a night.

We have ridden our bicycles down the Asbury boardwalk for years, and have always wanted to stay at the Berkeley. Its location and architecture are iconic, as is its history! So We stayed there many nights recently, knowing it’s off season. Of course the pool was closed, as was the restaurant. At least the sports bar was (sometimes) open and usually jumping. The staff was excellent, very helpful in many ways. Our room was worth the amazing views up and down the shore! Walking around the boardwalk is always special. The grand ballrooms are huge and amazing, and while it’s 100 years old, it’s a stunning property.

Hotel was right across the street from the beach and easy to get street parking. We paid around $25 for a full day (overnight is free) versus over $60 to park with the hotel. The elevators all scared me a bit because they were extremely creaky and slow but thankfully there were no issues aside from that! We were there on an unusually warm day and needed the a/c turned on. It would not work and the room was 77 degrees inside (82 degrees outside). I went down to the front desk and they were able to slightly adjust it to be 73 degrees. I was getting ready to attend a wedding and was sweaty the entire time- I wish it had been possible to make the room a little cooler. One other bizarre thing to mention- the bathroom sink was insanely shallow. I didn’t even have enough room to scrub my hands with soap under the faucet, I had to wash first and then rinse my hands one at a time. My husband and I were cracking up at how weird this design was and who would have ever approved it. The cafe downstairs was great but they were not open early morning (7am) for coffee. There are no coffee makers in the room so we left and went elsewhere. All in all, we had a pretty good stay and would consider this hotel again in the future.

Being a 100 year old hotel it was beautifully appointed with Chandeliers and some elegant touches. The staff were ok. We were going to use valet but no one ever came out so we used street parking which was cheaper anyway. They say they have coffee in the lobby in the mornings but it seriously was hidden down a hallway and to the left. The bar can get rowdy and loud so if you like that vibe it’s the place to be. I also found some of the floors in the cafe bar area sticky which I just can’t stand. I never saw anyone cleaning throughout our stay. So all in all it was just ok
