I'd been to Atlantic City before and didn't like it for a variety of reasons: the town is dangerous, the boardwalk hotels were old or expensive, everything was gambling-focused, and the guests were trashy. But I had heard that Borgata was different because it was newer and not on the boardwalk. Well, that's wrong. First, $1,500 for two nights in two average rooms is absurd for what you get. (In fact, they're still holding an additional $600 on my card as a security deposit. Basically, they get to hold $600 of my money for another 48 hours after I leave! Outrageous!) Second, they throw in nothing. Zero. No comped anything. Not even a discount. Nada. And they soak you for even the most mundane conveniences. For example, I went to take $100 out of an ATM, and the transaction fee was $8.99! I'd never seen anything more than $3.99 anywhere. Third, the restaurants and shows are all too expensive for what you get. This isn't haute dining, and you pay through the nose for it. And the musical act was Better than Ezra! LOL. Not even their parents wanna see Better than Ezra! Fourth, going to Borgata didn't eliminate the riffraf. You're still shoulder-to-shoulder with vagabonds who are smoking, vaping, and getting drunk. Then there was the pool, which was four-feet deep from end to end and stuffed full of Kensington Avenue's finest. Any hobo can walk into the hotel and use the pool. Just pave the place over and make it into a new Spring Lake.
