Dragonfly Woods Apartment-Bright airy efficiency apartment nestled in the woods

Non Smoking Family & Pet friendly second floor apartment. Private entrance and parking. Full kitchen, completely furnished including service for four, all towels & linens are provided. There is a full size washer & dryer in the unit for our guests convenience. We have basic cable and DVD player. Deck w/ BBQ Grill, outside picnic table, swing, hammock. We are located 5 mi. from downtown Bar Harbor, close to main Acadia Park entrance. Wildlife right out your window. Ocean less than half mi. away. Hamilton's Pond right down the street is a favorite fishing location, teaming w/ bass, perch, and other fresh water fish, turtles, beavers, and assorted bird life, such as eagles and peregrine falcons. Enjoy the peace and quiet of Downeast Maine. Well behaved pets welcome.


Hiking, Bicycling, mountain climbing, kayaking, paddle boarding: Mount Desert Island and Acadia National Park offer many miles of hiking trails and carriage paths that are all well maintained and provide fantastic opportunities to enjoy the many natural wonders the island has to offer. There are multiple businesses offering bike rentals close by or bring your own bikes, we offer secure areas to store them while you are here.

Kayaking, canoeing, boating.: Mount Desert Island and Acadia National Park offer vast opportunities to explore the area from both fresh water and salt water venues. There are several places to rent canoes or kayaks or feel free to bring your own, we have plenty of space to securely store them during your stay.

Bird Watching: Mount Desert Island, Acadia National Park and the Downeast Maine area are a bird watchers paradise. From eagles, osprey and peregrines to multitudes of water fowl as well as many various visitors on migratory routes the numbers of birds are phenomenal. Whether you chose to simply watch the chickadees, nuthatch and goldfinch that visit our feeders or the eagles that hunt on the pond down the street, there is always a variety of species to marvel at.

Dragonfly stay

Clean and quiet older apartment with all amenities. Easy access about 3 miles away to visitors center to catch bus into town. Hosts do their best to make your stay enjoyable and stress free. This is a garage apartment so be aware there are stairs but a very good place to stay while enjoying the beautiful area of Bar Harbor and Acadia.

Great experience

If you are going to Bar Harbor I highly recommend staying here. The location was relaxing and quiet, town is about 10 minutes away. The book of information on the table was fantastic. Everything that we needed was available to make our hiking trip enjoyable. The owners Gayle & Rob are fantastic and very knowledgeable. I am so glad that we skipped the hotel stay and enjoyed their place.

Awesome stay!

Dragonfly Woods was the perfect quiet and peaceful location for our trip to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. The listing and photos were a true representation of the property. The apartment was extremely clean with all the amenities one would want for a very comfortable stay. The hosts were quickly responsive to any questions that we had. Fabulous stay

A wonderful stay at Dragonfly Woods! Gayle and Rob were nothing short of fantastic hosts. I had everything I could possibly need for my vacation. Very conveniently located just 10 minutes from downtown BarHarbor ,but a nice and quiet location. The rental was very clean and efficient. Gayle and Rob were there to answer any questions I had and Gayle went above and beyond with info for some rainy day activities as the weather for a few days wasn't going to be great. Highly recommend for anyone wanting to visit Bar Harbor and Acadia but stay away from the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor Village. I would definitely stay here again.

Perfect stay at Dragonfly woods

Gayle and Rob have been very communicative and gave some great tips already ahead of the trip. Property was very clean and equipped with everything we need (e.g. full kitchen, washer/dryer, heat & cool system, Grill ). Lots of attention to details too (paper towel, Alu foil, olive oil, tabs for dishwasher and washer…). Location is also perfect to reach Bar Harbor and National Park. Big plus was to be able to bring our dog and have ample space to let him run (even though it was not really needed after long days of hiking and biking ;-)

Great Hosts and Location

Our stay here at the Dragonfly Woods was very awesome and very smooth from the beginning to the end. Not only is the location in a wonderful spot but also Rob and Gayle are two of the most hospitable hosts out there. They were always there when we needed it and were very helpful with guiding us with great recommendations throughout the area. We would definitely recommend staying here if you are staying in Bar Harbor area.

Wonderful Place

Really nice place, we were extremely happy there. The furnishings are solid quality which is hard to come by in rentals from our experience. Nicely decorated and very functional. Everything was there that we needed and the outdoor space was lovely and quiet. Seriously high value for the price, we were so grateful and will be back! Perfect for our family and such a great couple to rent from.

I prefer to stay in a quiet residential area than in Bar Harbor. This is quiet, peaceful and has wildlife roaming around the woods that just add to the wonderful nature experience.

Great lication outside of Bar Harbor

Welcoming hosts and apartment that lend to the perfect location for a relaxing trip to Maine. Conveniently located with a short drive to Bar Harbor and Acadia, made this a dream spot. Robert and Gayle went above and beyond with the preparation to our arrival and provided a clean and safe place to rest in between exploring MDI and surrounding area. Their informational guide book was essential and very much appreciated in our search for trails, restaurants, and local attractions. We would absolutely recommend this property and would love to return one day!

Fabulous Space

This is one of my favorite VRBO stays ever. Everything was wonderful! The apartment was very clean and everything you need is there, even for a lobster boil! The bed is super comfy too. Gayle and Rob both made sure our stay was exactly what we needed. Rob was able to advise on some water and RV generator issues we were having too. This spot is close to everything you would want to see on Mount Desert Island. There is bus service right nearby, so parking on the island doesn't have to be so crazy. We stayed here the month of July in 2023 and had a fantastic time. This is a great place to come home to after hiking, kayaking, visiting Bar Harbor, or spending the day at the beach. Just spending some time outside in the beautiful yard with the hammock or at the fire pit was very relaxing. I highly recommend this space.

Convenient location to Bar Harbor and Acadia. Very quiet area. Owners are on site and responsive. Listing says "full kitchen " but it doesn't have mixing bowls, storage containers or basic seasonings i.e. salt, pepper or sugar.

Great little apartment!

Gayle and Rob were wonderful hosts! They let us know ahead of time about some important info regarding Acadia National Park. The apartment was very clean upon our arrival and the kitchen was well equipped. The apartment was perfect for my wife and I, our daughter and our dog. Next time we visit Mt Desert Island, we will definitely check to see if this property is available.

Best location and hosts you’ll ever ever find.

My goodness I just wanted to move in to this apartment. It was so clean and equipped. Everything was so homey and 10 minutes away from EVERYTHING worth seeing. We spent days in Acadia and Bar Harbor. It was magical. I was literally somewhat depressed to leave. These hosts are everything. I wanted them to adopt me. They make you feel so welcome and at home. Truly one of the best experiences I’ve had if not the best. It’s not fancy, but it’s so cozy and perfect I just can’t say enough good things. The whale watching tour was incredible. We went to Scooners Point, which I can’t recommend enough. The sunsets were unreal in the harbor and nearby. Everyday felt like a precious gift. We have an autistic 11 year old and he was happy as a clam. We will DEFINITELY be back. Without question. Love. Love. Love.

Great experience all around

Rob and Gayle are phenomenal hosts - knowledgeable about the area, friendly, sincere, generous. The apartment location could not be better- a couple of minutes drive to Acadia, center of Bar Harbor. Yet, it's private, away frown touristy hustle and bustle. You can really relax here; there is a fire pit, a grill, and a hammock. The apartment itself is very clean, and with everything you could possibly need. I had a very comfortable stay here, and would love to come back time and time again.
