Light Oak Leaf Cottage

This lovely spacious home has 2 large bedrooms and 1 smaller bedroom, with 2 full bathrooms. It also features air conditioning for those hot summer days, and a pellet stove (with furnace backup) for those chilly nights. Direct TV and WiFi internet access are available at the cottage. This cottage features an open, inviting floor plan with lots of windows. It has been completely renovated and updated. A beautiful sunroom off the dining area provides a place to relax.
Conveniently located a short drive from Bar Harbor's bustling downtown, this peaceful home sits along the bus route for the Island Explorer free shuttle buses. Leave your car behind, and hop on a bus for a free ride anywhere on Mount Desert Island and into Acadia National Park. Our cottage sits on a large lot surrounded by oak trees, and is within walking distance of the ocean. Several popular campgrounds and lobster pounds are within 1 miles, and sea kayaking rentals are within a mile. Our home is within ten to fifteen minutes from each of the towns on Mt. Desert Island: Somesville, Seal Harbor, Northeast Harbor, and Southwest Harbor. All of these towns have their own character, and offer their own unique blend of restaurants, sightseeing, whale watching, arts, community events, mountains for hiking, carriage roads for walking or biking, beaches, parks, lighthouses, sailing, and boat-filled harbors.

Gem in the woods

This is probably my favorite vacation rental I’ve ever stayed in. This little cottage was perfect for my little family and my Husbands parents. It was well stocked and clean. The location is private but also within walking distance of a great restaurant. There were games and camping chairs to sit outside, and a grill on the deck. I would definitely recommend it to any family up to 6 people. There were lots of towels and a washer and dryer which was amazing for this point in our trip. I’ll definitely be booking with them again next year.

Very enjoyable stay

The property is exactly as advertised. Off the main roads, quiet, private, well kept, VERY clean. We cooked all meals there and found the kitchen supplies more than adequate. Plenty of room to spread out (meals, reading, games, puzzles, etc.). Owners were adjacent to the rental property. We talked to Rita, pleasant lady. Highly recommend!

Clean, well-appointed house with no surprises located 15 minutes from Bar Harbor and the main part of Acardia. Lobster stand and coffee shop next door, plus good hikes in the less-visited parts of the park. Great if you don't want to be in the middle of the things but close by.

The perfect Mt Desert Island getaway

The place was WAY bigger than we expected, super comfortable, lots of spaces for hanging, and beautiful outdoor space as well. We were told the kitchen had everything we needed - and they weren't kidding! We were able to cook every night and even make a birthday cake and some muffins without having to get extra tins. And it's so close to the park, it made hiking trips so easy. Super great!

Great spot on the Island

Wonderful property. The pictures don’t do it justice! Perfect base camp for adventuring in Acadia NP. We had 3 generations with us and we all thought the house was great. Plenty of towels and essentials. The kitchen was very well stocked and allowed us to prepare for each day’s hikes then come back and cook in for dinner. A great value compared to the pricey hotels on the island and so much more private and peaceful. We give this our highest rating!

The house is located conveniently to Bar Harbor and ACADIA NP also within easy walking distance to one of the best lobster shacks on the island. Nice enclosed porch. Do be aware the upstairs shower is a tight fit.

Great location, especially if you love lobster!

Property met our needs. The upstairs could get pretty warm when the weather is hot. Otherwise you have all that you need and it was very comfortable. Walking distance to the best lobster eatery around (The Traveling Lobster). Convenient all locations, from Bar Harbor to Acadia.

This property is conveniently located to the park Bar Harbor and northeast harbor. We loved the spaciousness and convenience of the cottage. Easy check in check out. It is a little off the beaten path but perfect for our stay. I would have enjoyed an extra wash cloth or two but there is a washer and dryer.

Super Clean! Many extras!

Super clean as advertised. Lots of extra amenities (like a full compliment of kitchen utensils). Very comfortable and perfectly located between Bar Harbor and Ellsworth. Would definitely stay here again if back in this area.

Excellent Location

Excellent location and access to the island as well as shopping inland. Nicely renovated, well maintained and furnished house. The house is within walking distance of The Travelin Lobster, an excellent place to get seafood and reasonably priced live lobsters. Just an FYI, the house is on a dirt road, but for a short distance, window AC units were adequate, top floor had low ceilings on the edges due to the pitch of the roof, not for tall people.

Relaxing spot on Mt Desert

The place was relaxing, away from the busy Bar Harbor area and accessible to all parts of Acadia. The host was wonderfully responsive to our questions and needs. The kitchen was incredibly well stocked, making it very easy for us to cook all our meals.
