We booked a junior suite at Riu Plaza. Initially, we were assigned room 406, which was disappointing: dull view, dirty window panes, tiles sticking out in the bedroom, and most importantly, the air conditioning didn’t work properly. It was far too warm for us to sleep comfortably.
We asked the receptionist to have the AC checked while we went out for dinner. Unfortunately, when we returned, nothing had been done, and the receptionist even took it upon himself to judge that the room temperature was ‘fine’ for sleeping — which we found quite inappropriate.
It’s a shame that we had to argue strongly to be moved to another room (206), which was much better and in the same category.
On the positive side, breakfast was very good and the location is convenient for restaurants and public transport. Overall, our stay was just OK — but we were disappointed by the poor level of service, especially for a suite in a 4-star hotel.”
