“This was a great place to stay especially if you have a bike and kayak. We drove and biked through the refuge and enjoyed it more on the bikes. We did a short kayak trip on Harris Neck Creek at high tide and it was beautiful. We will definitely be coming back!”

“Everything about this place is done with excellence. The furniture is comfortable and thoughtful. The beds are so comfortable. The bedding and towels are all cotton, fresh and abundant. The back porch furniture you can spend hours on and the jacuzzi is well maintained and very large. “Oaks on the River couldn't be more different from the chain hotels and mostly in good ways. The physical layout of rooms set in multiple buildings including two 200-year old mansions is the most obvious. Our king size bedroom felt very king-size. We arrived late in the rain and found our room with A MAP. Dining room was filled but the room service option was there. “Perfect little spot for a stopover for a night or two if you have a long drive up or down 95. My wife and I stayed there with our puppy. 2 miles to 95 and everything was walkable. Friendly neighborhood and very close to the water. Bungalow was very clean and had what you needed for a short stay. A great alternative to getting a hotel.”

“At such a low room rate, i was a little leery of staying there. I was pleasantly surprised with the cleanliness and comfort of the room. My only complaint is that the toilet is far too low for a 73-year-old with a bad leg to use, no grab bar. Otherwise, excellent! ”
