Loved this historical building. Hotel entrance and lobby was beautiful. We had a corner room which was a little tight, but clean and lovely bathroom made up for it.

Two passenger elevators, one was out of service for most of our stay , cockroaches in the common areas and found one in our room as well, the fridge that came in the room comes stocked with items fixed with sensors so if you remove an item you are automatically billed for it , we needed to purchase a second fridge for our room to keep personal items, at a $20 additional fee , outrageous. Very nice staff at the front desk and excellent cleaning ladies

The floors were filthy. The air vents had clumps if duat and junk mostly.clogging them. The beds were ok. It seems like they are going for a fancy vibe, but are missing that on the smaller details.

Property was clean and staff were very nice. The air freshener they used in the lobby bacame nauseating very quickly. Smell was too heavy and we didnt like it. In the room there was no mirror to see and put makeup on. Bathroom lighting wasnt right and hall mirror had no good lighting. Water pressure in shower was terrible. Room was clean, but very plain. Nothing special. Location though was wonderful!

It was a great location except, near to historic buildings, taverns the Aquarium. The problem was the noise, very loud at night. The other problems have to do with the hotel itself. Twice we came back from lunch and the room wasn’t made up so we had to leave for the housekeeper. The door to the bathroom was broken so we had to use the closet door. The phone didn’t work. Once we had to get toilet paper ourselves because we were out. Finally the pillows are terrible. Way too soft.

Like: Location was very handy to North End, foot markets and waterfront. Dislike: Property was very dated and service very average. It appeared staff were stretched with little to no management oversight.

The room was nice. We had a small balcony overlooking the adjacent building but we could stretch to see out on the street. The gym was absolutely disappointing. Small, hot, very limited equipment and half of the minimal equipment was broken. There was no bathroom, no water and no hand sanitizer. Really disappointing for Boston where everyone exercises. Went to the “ice and microwave” room and there was a big cockroach on the chair. And trash everywhere. I was told in the restaurant that I have to come pick up my order and they would not deliver it to the room. But there is room service listed. They delivered after all. Food was very good. And , the valet group is really special. They charge a lot, more than listed on the website. Then they charge more after certain time (2pm) even though it clearly says on the website that parking is 24 h. Fantastic location. Service and upkeep is not what I expected in such an old Boston hotel.

The location is excellent. You can walk all of North End from the hotel and there is a T station close-by. Before booking, check to see if their AC has been fixed. Our room never got below 78 degrees, despite the air running 24/7. After being out in the heat, all day, it didn’t give you anywhere to cool down and relax!

Asked for an early check in. Was unable to tell if this went through or not. Arrived and was told it was denied- that’s fine- was a last minute thing anyway. However, returned at 3 for normal check in time and was told the room still wasn’t ready. So, after some confusion, They gave us a different room- the AC was not working at all so they had a standalone unit working really hard to keep the room below 80 degrees. Their backup AC couldn’t keep up with above average temps in Boston. I get it- older hotels weren’t designed for today’s temps. That said, after complaining about it (had to go down to the lobby because their in-room phones absolutely do NOT work.) they moved us to another room that also couldn’t keep up. 82 degrees. We were told by other staff that there were other rooms that were also not keeping up with the temps. I felt like maybe they could’ve found us a room that wasn’t really hot, but we were only staying one night, (which they asked several times) so we weren’t really that important- kinda got the feeling from staff that if we were in a penthouse, or staying a week, it would’ve been resolved. The bathroom was big and the hotel was well located. Generally the staff was nice. Far from the worst place I’ve stayed, but for what it cost per night I definitely expected more. Actually would have just settled for honesty- if crazy hot weather means your hotel can’t keep the rooms cool, maybe just admit it?

It was really poor! We made reservations for dinner and when we got to the restaurant the door was locked. The desk said it was closed due to HVAC issues. No sign outside indicating a problem. Called reception on the morning to see if the restaurant was open for breakfast. No! Asked if any coffee was laid out. No, because restaurant provides. Disappointed because one reason we chose the hotel was because it had a restaurant. Had to use my cell phone to reach desk as phone wasn’t working. Shower full of mildew/mold. Gross! Lastly, we had to pay an extra $35 which was a fee for water, and use of other facilities which we didn’t use. And, the taxi the bellman ordered didn’t arrive in time so I had to order my own which arrived immediately. So disappointed and it wasn’t cheap!
