Vintage Cabin on Beautiful Lake O'brien - Includes Pontoon Boat

If you are looking for the true cabin experience, look no further! This classic 1950's property includes a 2 bedroom/1 bath main cabin, 1 bedroom/1 bath guest house, and a free standing sauna; all in a stand of mature pine trees that will take your breathe away. The property was purchased by my wife and I in 2017 and was completely renovated. A small but efficient layout, the main cabin has 2 bedrooms with double beds, a 3/4 bath, living room with wood burning fireplace and dining room with great lake views. The kitchen includes a 2 burner cooktop, a microwave/convection oven combo, fridge and a single bowl sink. The indoor space flows to an outdoor area with fire pit and grill. The rental comes complete with a pontoon boat (2018 Bennington), and a new large platform dock that makes spending time on the lake simple and enjoybale! For those that like to stay connected or not miss the big game, both the main and guest cabin have high definition TV's with local cable service, and both structures have free Wi-Fi. In addition, both structures include air conditioning for those muggy summer nights! And for those cooler nights, the property has a free standing sauna with electric heater. Take a dip in the lake afterwards to complete your sauna experience!

Situated 5 mile east of the town of Crosslake, crystal clear Lake O'Brien is spring fed with a water clarity of 24', making it one of the cleanest two lakes in the entire watershed district! The lake itself is surrounded by mature pines. There is approximately 5 miles of shoreline, of which about a quarter of the lake is undeveloped state owned property. During the summer, this recreational lake is perfect for fishing, skiing, wake boarding, canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding and all other water based activities, including just floating on an air mattress!! It's location a quiet tar township road make it perfect for a morning walk or bike ride.

Our property is perfect for a family of up to 6 or a few couples. We have a strict limit of 6 due to the size of the cabins. We do keep our calendar updated and so if you are seeing availability then it's likely available. Upon reservation and prior to your stay you'll receive a complete 'what to bring' list so you are prepared for your time up north. Feel free to inquire with any questions you may have and we'll be prompt to reply! We pride ourselves on keeping our property in and structures/equipment in great condition and are certain we'll exceed your expectations in that regard. And further since we also live on the same lake, should any questions ro problems arise we can respond quickly. In fact, your only disappointment will be when you have to leave!!

The pontoon boat is typically in the water and available for use from mid-May to the beginning of October.

Relaxing Getaway

We enjoyed our stay at the white cabin. Jeff and Lindsay are great hosts and were very responsive to questions. The fireplace was already lit when we arrived, which was very nice. There was uncertainty as to whether the pontoon would still be available in mid-October but we were fortunate that it was! My dad enjoyed being able to go out and catch some large mouth bass. We will definitely be back again!

Oozing with charm

This property will not disappoint! The main cabin is vintage in all the right ways in terms of interior aesthetic and modern in the places you want it to be, like the kitchen and bathroom. The guest cottage is perfection - looks and feels like a 5 start hotel. The outdoor spaces are plentiful with an expansive paved patio for eating and bonfires, gorgeous screened in porch perched over the lake, and large dock. We loved the separate spaces so our family could spread out when desired. Property looks exactly like photos and is clean and nicely appointed. Hosts are wonderful!

Modern Nostalgia

This property has a 50s feel with up to date amenities. A beautiful, peaceful location. Very clean, comfortable and cozy. The separate guest suite and the outdoor screened room gives privacy when wanted. A sauna and pontoon included is awesome. I would highly recommend this property.

A must stay for a single small family or group!

It’s like your own private resort. We loved the outdoor porch and used it the most- our daughter would nap and we sat outside enjoying the fresh air and view. I personally appreciated the attention to detail and aesthetic of the property. It’s iconic, log, Pendleton blankets, wood fire, something out of a movie and worth spending money on. A true private retreat.

Magical!

What a wonderful stay! The cabins were gorgeous and everything was extremely convenient and comfortable. The property was incredibly peaceful and exactly what we dream of owning ourselves one day. The fishing was fantastic (our daughter caught her first northern off the dock!!!) and the wildlife viewing was such a highlight as well. Over the course of three days, we saw deer, fox, turkeys, loons, woodpeckers, herons, hummingbirds and an eagle who caught a fish right near the shoreline and ate it in a pine tree over the patio. The best part is we weren’t spending much effort looking for any of them! Thank you for the opportunity to slow down and remind ourselves of what is most important in this life. We all shed a tear when it was time to go- we feel blessed to have made such truly magical memories!

Wonderful time!

My husband and I booked a stay with Jeff and Lindsay at the Little White Cabin and had a great experience. The place was so nice and welcoming, as were the hosts. We rode our motorcycle there, and it was a beautiful ride from the cities with lots of fun stops. They loaned us fishing poles to use since we didn't have room to pack them. The place has everything you need and more. It was a perfect little getaway on a lovely, quiet lake in a beautiful area.

Charming Vintage Cabin

Great cabin.

Our second time staying at this property. Always clean, check-in is a breeze and owners are very helpful. Having the boat available is a huge bonus and the screen porch is lovely and perfect for a nap. The only bummer this time was the sauna was out of order.

Family Getaway

This was our third visit to one of Jeff and Lindsay’s properties. We especially love the charm, the amenities, and the location of the white cabin. We enjoyed pontoon rides, fishing, golf and many walks on the beautiful road. Highly recommend, cannot wait to return!

Idyllic Lake Retreat

Everything.was perfect at the white cabin. The location and qualities of the cabin are exactly as pictured. The setting is peaceful and serene positioned between Lake O'Brien and Goodrich lake. I loved looking at both lakes from the kitchen as they sparkled nearby. The Balmers are expert hosts and instantly responsive to any questions. Everything is perfectly maintained and in good working order making for a really comfortable vacation. We loved the pontoon and found that to be a great addition. We are definitely coming back next year as the cabin was perfect for extended family visits. I grew up in this area and it means a lot to me. Our time at the white cabin did not disappoint.Thank you Jeff and lLindsay.

Memories with my kids

Cozy Cabins!

We loved our stay here! Everything was so beautiful! Our favorite places to hang out were the firepit and the outdoor porch. The bedding and mattresses are so comfortable! We went hiking at a local trail, came back and made soup on the stove, played cards and had s’mores by the firepit. The fact that we could bring the dogs too was so nice! I love all the decorative touches in both cabins. Perfect getaway. Can’t wait to come back!

Autumn Splendor

My husband and I decided to schedule a staycation in MN to celebrate our 30th Wedding Anniversary. We couldn’t have chosen a better location. We were blessed with beautiful fall weather and the coziest accommodations. The cabin sits on a hill with direct access to Lake O’Brien. When outside on the cobblestone patio, the large pines, various trees, and views of lakes on both sides of the property provided the perfect backdrop to soak in the fall colors. We had daily bonfires 🔥fished from shore, and relaxed in the extra sunroom watching the beautiful sunsets. I even did a polar plunge in the evening with our dog Scout! The cabin had a wonderful cozy atmosphere, was pet friendly, and made some great memories of evenings spent conversing and reflecting on the last 30 years. We would recommend for any couple or family to stay at the White Cabin to unwind, unplug and get reconnected!

Awesome gateway w/ top notch host(s)!

Went up with my wife, 17month daughter, parents and my wife’s parents and we all have a GREAT time! Jeff and Lindsay are wonderful people and they have a very special place that they have kept up wonderfully!
