Nestled in the Brecon Beacons National Park, at the foot of the dramatic Black Mountains, this spectacular 18th-century home is perfect for groups of friends and families planning a special celebration. Set on 4 acres of grounds with public trails leading to the surrounding hills, this is the perfect spot for walkers, who will appreciate the nearby village pub (500 metres) after days of Welsh hiking. Fellow lovers of the outdoors will also enjoy a visit to Llangorse Lake (5.5 miles) where water sports opportunities and wildlife watching await, as well as a hike up Mynydd Troed (2 miles). For a more laid-back affair, visit the picturesque town of Crickhowell (8.5 miles) for afternoon tea and famous Welsh cakes. Lovers of reading simply must visit the world-famous town of Hay-on-Wye, otherwise known as ‘The town of books’ thanks to its impressive selection of charming bookstores.
Before stepping into this gorgeous home, take a moment to soak in your verdant surroundings of peaceful woodlands and dramatic Welsh hills. Head inside to find that the rural charm continues in the form of exposed wooden beams and roaring wood burner combined with modern, homely comforts. Discover the social heart of the home, the open-plan lounge/diner. After days of outdoor pursuits, this is the perfect spot to relax thanks to the sumptuous furnishings, wood burner and TV with a cinema surround sound system. When you’re rested up and stomachs begin to rumble, walk through to the delightful country-style kitchen and find everything you need to cook up a Welsh feast for your loved ones. Gather round the farmhouse-style table here to enjoy the chef’s work, or in the lounge/diner for a more formal meal. Guests will also find a handy utility room on the ground floor, perfect for wet coats and muddy walking boots. At the end of each busy day away, seven welcoming bedrooms invite a restful night’s sleep, the first of which is on the ground floor. This bedroom is a wheelchair-accessible double room with its own en-suite wet room. A family shower room and separate WC complete this level. Upstairs await six more peaceful bedrooms – two king-size rooms, one with an en-suite shower room, as well as a double, a twin and two cosy singles. Serving the bedrooms are a well-appointed family bathroom and a separate shower room, and completing the interior is a charming reading room, offering a quiet space to retreat to.
