“The hotel was buzzing. Our original impression on going to reception to book in wasnt good. My husband speaks Spanish which is good and understandable but the reception lady took one look and phoned for a replacement. A form was thrust into my hand with no explanation (a new government initiative). The questions asked for name and address then further down asked again for address then asked for things that made no sense in either Spanish nor English. Bad start but things got better. “Great location, deluxe rooms are big and mod with some views of lovely river, great roof top bar terrace with fine views. Down side are thin but soft enough mattresses typical of Spanish hotels and cloying air “freshener” smells that seem to dominate the lobby and cafes of Silken hotels in Leon and a bit less Burgos.
