Off-grid Casita on the most popular beach area of Ambergris Caye!
The Casita is nestled in beautifully crafted Belizean hardwood construction, fully air-conditioned (though we prefer it with only the breezes!) and well appointed for your stay, only a 5 minutes ride from Secret Beach. Each casita generates its own electricity from sunlight & collects filtered rainwater for warm showers and washing dishes. The pool is always the perfect temperature and not a soul around to interrupt your deep dive into your favourite novel. A 20-minute ride puts you in the heart of San Pedro for shopping, diving and lots of restaurants. Great food at Guapo's or The Roadkill Cafe is within walking distance away or ride to The Sunset Palace for a frozen cocktail and get the best seat on the island (hint... it's a table in the water) for the incredible sunset view!
Be prepared to live out of your suitcase, no storage, very small casita. Lots of issues with hot water, due to being of grid. Long ways from San Pedro or secret beach so golf cart is a must.

Rough beginning and End to the trip
We arrived in the evening with another couple (we rented both Casitas) and there was only a key for one of them. Contacted the owner and they sent someone to bring the key to the other Casita about an hour later. The Casita had not been cleaned and we had to wait for it to be cleaned before we could bring our bags in. Needless to say after a long day of travel sitting in the covered porch area waiting for hours was frustrating.
The Casita and grounds were as described. The Casita's themselves were inconsistently stocked with supplies. The drinking water is in 5 gallon jugs and you have to lift them up over your shoulders to put in the dispenser. There was no storage for luggage, the only cabinet is locked. We contacted the owner the day before we left stating that we heard a constant beeping underneath the Casitas the night before and was told they would have someone check on it. No one came and the beeping continued. We had to get up early (3:30) to travel to San Pedro to catch an early flight. The power went out before we got up so we were not able to take showers and had to pack up and leave in the dark.
The issues we had are easily fixed. So, I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else.
The Casitas themselves are very cute and exactly what we were looking for in a stay out of the crowded downtown area of San Pedro.
