There is also the interesting story about the old funicular railway to the rear of the hotel which closed in 1977 but may be refurbished and reinstated if funds can be secured. It is a rural location, about 20 mins walk from the nearby town of Lanzo d'Intelvi and the bus service from Como drops you about 400m from the hotel reception if you aren't driving. “I had a very good and peaceful stay experience in Lugano with a lake-view balcony suite. The huge room with a spectacular view was nicely set up, and the gymnasium facilities were perfect. “Prachtig hotel met prachtige en schone kamers. Het hotel is erg schoon. Onze kamer was van alle gemakken voorzien. Er was zelfs een strijkijzer. Dat was er handig. Verder heb je je incheckpasje voor allerlei toepassingen nodig, waaronder zelfs het bedienen van de lift. Dat was minder praktisch. Bij het inchecken werd voorts gemeld dat ik € 15,- moest betalen om van het parkeerterrein gebruik te maken.
