We could hardly have wished for a more wonderful way to start our trip to South Africa than staying at the Villa Rosa Guest House in Sea Point for 6 days. The location is perfect: one block from Main Road with all its shops and eateries, two blocks from the ocean front road with its long esplanade that is perfect for strolling. This area felt very safe for walking around, including after dark when we walked back from eating out in the neighborhood. Even so, the guest house compound felt extremely secure, with multiple locked doors and gates.
The guest house itself is a small, charming bed and breakfast, and each room (we looked in several) seems to have a unique character. We stayed in Room 11 and would choose it again, as it is particularly quiet and private — far back from High Level Road (which gets a fair amount of traffic at certain times of day), enclosed in the middle of the compound, and has its own small outdoor “courtyard” with a fountain and sitting area. The room itself is spacious, with a comfy and old-fashioned sitting area (complete with fridge and tea/coffee station) separate from the bed, and a refurbished modern bathroom. Everything was clean and well kept, and the bed was very comfortable.
The breakfasts were especially good (even compared to the other B&Bs we stayed at elsewhere on this trip), with a different main choice every day, each more delicious than the last, in addition to all the other breakfast options one might like.
