Welcome to Prairie Basse Nature Retreat & Wildlife Sanctuary! A place where you can relax and reconnect with nature! With 42 years of love, effort and intention invested, this 30+ acre property was thoughtfully designed and curated. The property is home to over 242 native plant species as well as dozens of species of birds and a variety of other wildlife. The property features a 3 bed / 2 bath home with plenty of space and amenities for guests to relax and feel at home.

Relaxing nature retreat in fully equipped home

Prairie Basse is really country but just15 minutes from downtown Lafayette. The house is squeaky clean and features white cotton sheets towels and a fully stocked kitchen. The seven of us had so much fun and will be back!

Super cute, massive potential

Most of our issues were not the owners fault. We booked for a "respite" as promised, but mother nature was brutal. There were storm issues, but Im NOT blaming them for that. Its truly an adorable cabin in the woods. I booked because of the descriptions on the gardens, etc. We were wanting quiet fam time for our daughter in school.. and bummer! Its NOT QUIET. Dogs from neighbors chase you, gun shots until 1? None of the doors closed without squeeking, the floor boards are sinking in the kitchen, etc.. Im being honest.. its awesome and has potential, for sure.. but many repairs are needed. And I hope the owners do, because its an awesome little cabin. Only thing I wish I knew? I didnt get ANY info prior, and folks need to know that its down a gravel road with dogs who chase, muddy grounds, loud house of old wood creaking..
