Get away from it all and enjoy the spectacular views - whether to get out there and do it, or just to relax and enjoy the location. This roomy little ocean front cottage boasts a view of the whole Mataikona bay.
Located right at the entrance of deliverance cove you're close to everything this iconic location has to offer.
Located just a short walk from the Holiday Light; Deliverance Cove Track and the reef. Just down the road is the Castlepoint shop and beach.
Just 2 hours from Wellington, Castlepoint is a spectacular year round holiday destination; be it for a summer break at the beach or a winter getaway to enjoy the spectacular scenery.
Special conditions:
Pets allowed with prior approval. Very well-behaved dogs are welcome but owners are requested to ensure that they clean up after them.

NOTE: Under Kiwi bach tradition you are expected to: Clean the house and do the dishes before you leave; Bring your own linen (towels/sheets/tea towels);

Epic spot in a traditional kiwi bach

Location couldnt be better. House needs a little love, especially the kitchen. Thankfully we read the comments and brought a lot of kitchen things with us. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Happy place

LOVED our stay here and I will book again. Just a perfect location, close to beach to walk the dog, climb to the lighthouse. Out of the way so you have no clue what is going on in the rest of Castlepoint. I was a little concerned that there seemed no way to contact the host should anything go wrong.....which it didn't. But it disconcerted me a little. Won't stop me coming back. I could live there forever.

Perfect spot

Great little place, absolute perfect spot. Everything you need except a decent clothes line, and no washer or dryer. We got caught in a heavy downpour and got soaked and there was no way to dry our only warm clothes, and please fix those curtains, it wouldn't take much. Would stay here again.

This is a gorgeous little bach, in a wonderful location with a stunning view and great deck. We had a great stay, easy communication with host and arrival instructions. A lovely quiet couple of days at the beach

Dirty and dangerous

The property was quite dirty. We had to wash all the cutlery and crockery we intended to use, and gave the counters a good clean but not impressed with how dirty it was behind canisters and in the cupboards etc. The shower was full of sand when we arrived and the bathroom not very clean. Such a pity because this could be a lovely let. We were also very concerned that there was no working smoke alarm especially considering some very old electrics. I doubt the property would pass an electric and wiring inspection. The property was very tired overall.The view was good but all things considered it was well over priced.

Location is excellent. Property was adequate but could do with an update and fresh up. Spring clean wouldn’t go amiss. Curtains need very gentle care as fittings are brittle but understand the sun would do that. Thoroughly enjoyed our short stay.

Great location

Maybe the last people to use the house didn’t clean it properly. All the dishes, pans and cutlery needed washing before they could be used. The bedding was stained. Beautiful location but let down by cleanliness.

Great view after some hard mahi

The view from the bach was wonderful- but we had to wash all the windows facing the sea before we could see anything but a fuzzy outline through them. I know windows on the coast get grubby but, when a major selling point of the bach is the view, I’d expect the owner or manager to ensure the windows are clean for each new guest. Glassware & cutlery need improvement. Otherwise all was great & we enjoyed the stay.

Just Bad!

First off the Queen bed is well past its use by date! Its very uncomfortable so don't expect a good sleep. The bedding is also pretty old. The kitchen is pretty dirty and all the kitchen utensils are old, blunt and the cutting boards are horrible so take your own. Curtains are also popping off the tracks and no curtain to cover the exterior facing glass door in the master bedroom. Most of the window rubbers are worn out so they draft a fair bit and sand blows in plus the latches are . . . variable. We were there 2 nights. Checked in after 2 first night. 9am next morning the Painter arrives??? (what?) to continue painting the outside of house apparently. We were not advised about this at all as per the other review about roofers turning up. No privacy and every window you sat at had a painter standing there. Messaged the property Manager with no response so I assume they really just don't care about the quality of your stay that you are paying good money for. Obviously just don't care so if you have issues good luck getting any response. Next morning we are about to leave and the powers cut to Castlepoint so that kinda capped off a pretty rubbish stay. We will definitely not book here again! Sorry Bach-care but this is Not what travelers should expect.

Lovely part of the country. The bach was not checked after each visitor’s stay. There was a note from previous visitor about their previous visitor about food left behind. I was under the impression that the bach should be checked after each group. This was not done. It was tidy, thankfully but could have been a mess. This needs improvement.

Absolutely stunning location, so close to the beach and lighthouse. Sitting and watching the lighthouse at night was truely spectacular. The beds are pretty uncomfortable and there were potato chip crumbs through one of the single beds that we had to clean off before using.

Calamity at Castlepoint

Awesome spot with stunning views. Basic bach but good comfort level, except for the queen bed which needs to be upgraded. Scaffolding around the outside on arrival and roofers showed up at 8am on the last morning of our stay to remove the old roof! Drills & hammers were not the best wake up call & we would've appreciated some communication about this from the property manager.

Lovely little Beachfront stay

We had the most relaxing time staying at this bach. The highlight was definitely the window seats looking out to the ocean and lighthouse. We were pleasantly surprised when the lighthouse lit up! The bach was tidy & cozy, exactly what you would expect from a little bach. We wished we had stayed an extra night though!!

Brilliant spot- great views. Comfortable seating around the big open window. Just couldn't find a heater- saw and used the two on the walls but couldn't find any other,was a bit cool for this time of the year. Great shower, oven. Lovely patio area.
