The stay at the Big Yellow Inn was nice. I was very surprised to find out that they built it fairly recently because the woodwork and style harkened back to lovely older homes of that period. It is full of wonderful antiques and a person could spend lots of time pouring over the public areas which are a treasure trove of history. The owner, Scott, was super helpful by phone from early on and even after our stay. His wife was very nice, informative about the house's history, and clearly about relationships, which is what I like about traditional B&Bs.
Breakfasts were tasty with quite a few options to choose from.
We stayed in the "master suite" which actually had two separate bedrooms, a pleasant surprise. It was clean and quiet. Their site said there was a/c but our rooms were stuffy and warm with only a 70* day outside. We couldn't find any a/c but there was a fan provided which helped. To their credit, I didn't ask about it because it wasn't intolerable by any means in early spring.
I am a heavy lady with prior back injuries and found the bed in the back bedroom extremely uncomfortable, but my friend slept well in the front room. The rooms were well equipped with the things you might need, including a little kitchenette, and the porch was lovely.
The owners are relational, involved, hard working, and have good senses of humor. This is obviously a labor of love for them, with a rich sense of history and caring for people.
