4/5 Stars I had a wonderful stay at this resort—the property is beautiful, the staff were friendly, and the amenities truly made the experience feel like a relaxing getaway. The pool area and dining options were especially enjoyable, and everything was clean and well maintained. That said, there was one inconvenience: my room key card stopped working, and even after being issued multiple replacements (four in total), the issue persisted. Eventually, I had to wait about 10 minutes for maintenance to come and open the door. Thankfully, the staff handled it professionally and quickly resolved the problem once it was escalated. Despite that hiccup, I would still recommend this resort and would definitely consider staying here again!

The Rod and Reel is always our 1st choice for our anniversary. The staff is excellent, the food is terrific but the property is under construction and will be even more beautiful in June. Trader's has marvelous food also! But, I have a problem with Expedia made it seem that the room that I reserved would have a fantastic full exposure water view. The room that I was given did not!! I had to pay to upgrade to get the view I really wanted for my 20th anniversary.

As of April 2025 construction means you have to walk 5mins outside to get to the on-site restaraunt. Unfortunately it was a windy/heavy rain day during our stay and this was tough. That said, hospitality was top notch. The food was tasty, and the train museum is free and *right there*. Which was a fun surprise for our toddler. Price per night feels steep for the area ($400 after the $20 resort fee added at check-in). I expect to pay that much in big cities or at Spas... But with good weather maybe the access to water and so many walkable restarunts would make it slightly more worthwhile. We were in town for a wedding and Expedia OneKey credits made it doable.

The Rod and Reel at Chesapeake Bay , was a huge disappointment for the amount of $$$ they charged us ! We couldn’t believe every time we went to the door of our hotel room , the keys didn’t work. So another trip down to the desk for all 40 of us staying there for a family wedding weekend. There were NO Amenities to speak of , why was there a charge for them , then. We stayed 3 nights , it cost over 1100.00 for 3 in a room. No cots available, due to fire laws , that’s ridiculous!! Beds VERY UNCOMFORTABLE!!! Loud at night everywhere even with QUIET ZONE signs in hallways!!!! During this time of year , there definitely should be a DEEP DISCOUNT for all the construction going on as well !!!!!

This property is not a high star hotel so far, unless when it remodeled it improves. Finishes, detail in cleanliness inside the rooms is average. Hope if improves. The only good thing about this hotel is location, you basically pay for that only if you are lucky and they give you a room with balcony.
