The facility itself was clean and overall well-maintained, and my stay was generally okay. However, I would not stay in a hostel again due to a deeply uncomfortable and upsetting experience. Late one night, I was showering in the women’s bathroom and, upon stepping out of the shower cubicle, I was shocked to find a man inside the space. This was not a case of a trans guest using the facilities, which I would have understood — it was a man in the women’s bathroom, and the situation left me feeling exposed and vulnerable. When I reported the incident to the front desk, I felt dismissed and unfairly labeled as being judgmental or transphobic, which was not the case. My concern was about safety and the enforcement of gender-designated spaces, not anyone’s identity. This experience was traumatizing and has made me reluctant to stay in any hostel again. I hope the management takes guest safety and concerns more seriously in the future.

This hostel is in a really nice neighborhood. But a downside is the parking. I personally found it difficult to find the back parking after I had pain for my spot. With the roads packed with cars it is rather stressful to find parking, in my opinion.

The hostel was old but clean. The staff was really nice. The only complaint from me is the bunk beds suck in the family rooms. They are so uncomfortable and squeeky. But it was a room when we needed one and couldnt afford anything else because Beyonce weekend.

Unfortunately the fire alarm went off at 330 am - it turned out that a pipe burst and there was no hot water for the next day. Also, the temps dropped significantly at night (in May) to the low 40s for the whole stay and there was no heat.. They turned it off for the season. I know it's a hostel but at a minimum there needs to be heat/ac when weather demands it and hot water. There were also parking isdues. They assign spots... But other cars were in my assigned spot with nothing to be done bc they weren't actually guests but 'friends' of guests. I've had much better experiences previously but this one was just bad.

We love the Getaway Hostel and have stayed there many times. It’s so nice to meet people from other countries and have the opportunity to chat with them over coffee (very good by the way) at breakfast. We had a problem with lack of heat but staff took care of it right away. We had our 6 year old granddaughter with us and we felt very safe in the hostel and in the neighborhood. She loved it! Great stay.

I’ve stayed here a couple times. Great location and reasonable prices. Clean, free breakfast, and nice common areas. The property is in a wealthy, walkable area in a historic building. It can be hard to park.
