If you’re planning a getaway to the beautiful Colorado mountains, especially to explore Pikes Peak or the surrounding area, Cripple Creek is an incredible choice, and Gold King Mountain Inn places you right in the heart of it. The town is full of charm, with multiple casinos, shops, and stunning scenery that feels like a little slice of heaven.
The views from the hotel are absolutely breathtaking. Serene, awe inspiring, and worth the trip all on their own. The staff was warm and friendly, and check in was a breeze.
The hotel itself is very outdated, and while the room was clean, it did have a musty, old smell that was a bit off putting. That’s really the only reason I’m giving four stars instead of five. Otherwise, it was convenient and had all the standard amenities you’d expect—coffee maker, fridge, microwave, hairdryer—but the amenities weren’t really what stood out.
I would absolutely recommend staying here, especially if you're after peace, beauty, and the kind of mountain views that stop you in your tracks. Come for the setting, not the luxury.
