You can relax and barbecue outside on the wrap-around covered deck, just a short distance from the creek-side sauna and hot-tub. Cooke City, at an elevation of 7400 feet and only minutes from the Northeast Entrance to Yellowstone National Park, offers two distinct seasons. Summer is filled with outdoor activities, including hiking, biking, ATVing, fishing, rafting, photography, and sightseeing, either in spectacular Yellowstone National Park or in the beautiful surrounding areas. Fall through spring presents world-class snowmobiling and backcountry/cross-country skiing in the most gorgeous of mountain settings.
The road to Cooke City from Gardiner, through Yellowstone National Park, is kept open year-round. To the east, Cooke City is accessible by Highway 212 from May through November, depending on snow levels. Chief Joseph Scenic Byway, Wyoming 296, climbs from the Cody area over majestic Chief Joseph Pass and then wanders through gorgeous Sunlight Basin before arriving at Cooke City. The Beartooth Highway, which twists and winds its way from Red Lodge, is open only through summer months, and is considered one of the most scenic drives in America.
