Perfect cottage on the 4x4 beach for an adult getaway or two families with kids. Consider this gem as a remote get-a-way with 9 miles of beach driving after the pavement ends in Corolla, adding to the fun. 4wd vehicles are a must for your trip to Splash of Lime.

Enter the main floor from your front decks and the space opens up to the great room with living area, dining space and fully equipped kitchen.

This main level has two bedrooms... one with a king bed and full private bath (walk-in shower) and the other with a twin-over-full bunk plus a separate twin. There is a full bath in the hallway, plus the laundry room.

The rear deck is off the kitchen and is perfect for sunsets and overlooks the pool.

Upstairs there is an identical setup to below... one king room with full private bath and another room with a twin-over-full bunk plus a separate twin. There is also another full bath in the hallway.

Ground-level below the house provides wonderful space for the hot tub, outdoor shower, charcoal BBQ grill, hammocks, hanging daybed, corn hole, picnic table, and plenty of space for games. Horses come by most days.

No parking allowed under the house is allowed, all cars must stay on the sand.

The pool is open mid-April through end of October. The pool can be heated for a $300 weekly fee in April/May and Sept/Oct.

Doggos are welcome! Pet fee is $250, an additional fee may be applied for multiple animals as appropriate, please check with Marty.

Our family vacation at Carova Beach was truly a peaceful paradise. The home had everything we needed and more—beautifully stocked, comfortable, and thoughtfully prepared for guests. It's the perfect place to unplug, relax, and spend meaningful time with family.We will definitely be returning soon and have already shared this gem with our friends and family. This is one of the most accommodating and enjoyable vacation rentals we’ve ever experienced!

You want to go all the way out to Corolla, to get away and unplug! Especially at this time of year (early April), it was a welcomed ghost town! We saw horses roaming around, deer, and went to the beach every day! Our favorite spot with the rainy spring weather was the hottub!! What a wonderful and accommodating home - perfect for our family to enjoy each other’s company for a few days. Thank you for your hospitality Marty & Fam!

The hosts communication was great, the house was not only spacious and clean but the kitchen was well stocked with small appliances and such to make cooking a breeze. We had a lot of fun adventuring around the areas and saw wild horses multiple times! We look forward to returning in the future.

Would definitely stay here again! It was the perfect kitchen for a larger Thanksgiving meal and as a bonus, there were two fridges. The house was very clean with great access to the beach. From the second story, you can see the water. And of course, there were lots of horses.

We enjoyed ours stay at Splash of Lime! Our family enjoys adventure and solitude, we checked all the boxes here. The 4x4 experience is fun (maybe a little too exciting at high tide with a full moon). The horses! Awesome! They made many stops by the house. Area is very cool and house offers everything you would need. Great visit!

We decided to book a last minute weekend away and just kind of stumbled on the Slice of Lime listing. It had a very unique location with a pool, hot tub, close to the beach and a wonderful open floor plan. We’re a family of 3 plus our two dogs and our host made everything easy. They aren’t kidding when they mean 4x4 and our Jeep handled the trip to the house easily. A weekend almost isn’t enough. I could sit outside and enjoy the sounds of the ocean and watch for the wild horses all day. The pool and hot tub were a wonderful addition. Especially for our active 13 year old. I highly recommend this property if you are looking to just kind of get off the grid and escape the crazy every day.

The property exceeded our expectations and was by far the cleanest rental home our family has stayed in. The home had everything you needed for a stay in 4x4. Marty was an exceptional host who went above and beyond to ensure we arrived safely and were enjoying our stay. We absolutely fell in love with Carova and highly recommend booking with Marty. The location of the home provides such a nice relaxing vacation away from the busy more central beaches of OBX. We saw horses everyday many times directly on our property. Absolutely amazing vacation!

What a wonderful experience! A beautiful home that was exceptionally clean and looked just like the listing photos. The kitchen has everything you could ever need and the outdoor grills are awesome. Beds and linens are super comfortable. Area is walkable or easily drivable to beach. We saw horses every day. The beach driving was so fun in our 4x4s. Overall, this was an awesome experience. Marty was wonderful and very easy to work with.

We had a great time at splash of lime. The pool was clean and beautiful and the hot tub was perfect. The bedrooms were spacious and sheets were clean and ready to go. Horses hung out in the yard in the evening which was pretty cool. The kitchen was well stocked with nice plates that looked like limes. The porches had comfy chairs and the patio had 2 hammocks and a swinging loveseat! All around we had a fun relaxing time at splash of lime!

We loved our stay at Splash of Lime! Hosts were very responsive during our stay. Answered all questions prior to arrival and during our stay. The location of the house is perfect to have peace and quite and see the wild horses. The house also had many activities (games, puzzles, ect) and provided umbrellas and beach chairs. We are seasoned VRBO vacationers. This home was the cleanest that we have ever stayed in. The house was in perfect condition. No wobbley tables, broken drawers, rusty beach chairs, etc. The owner genuinely seems to want you to enjoy his property and your vacation. He helped us with some transportation issues that we had and saved us an entire day of travel. As for the location, we have never been to the Outer Banks or a 4X4 beach. We drive a regular SUV and had no trouble figuring out the air in the tires and navigating the sand. We saw horses everyday. This beach has beautiful white sand and the water is clear. It really isn't as remote as one of the other comments suggested. It is maybe a bit of a hassle to deflate and air you tires, but there are plenty of places to put air in your tires for free. We made a list and grocery shopped once and went in for a meal and shopping on another afternoon. If you have any hesitations about booking this location, I highly recommend staying here. This was one of the best vacation weeks that we have had.

The home enabled us to enjoy our stay in the Outer Banks. We were unfamiliar with the area and the 4X4 beach driving, but love learning new things. The weather was not the best, but with the comforts of the home, we were had a relaxing time playing games, enjoying the hot tub and binge watching TV. The place is quite clean. Splash of Lime was an excellent choice for our small family including the dog. The home was clean and spacious. We stayed primarily on the main level but the property could have easily housed a second family comfortably and with privacy. The kitchen was well stocked for cooking. Loved being able to drive to the beach and we did see horses!! Marty was a fantastic host and made it known from the beginning he was a call or text away. Having gone off season we understood the changes of bad weather.. When there was news of TS Ophelia headed our way, Marty text us updates on the tides and weather to make sure we were up to speed on the conditions. We have never had such open communication with past rentals which was never a big deal but being in a remote location it was reassuring. We look forward to returning again! 5/5

What a great stay we had over New Years 2024! Marty is very easy to work with and responsive to any questions. House has all you need! Open areas, nice size bedrooms, well stocked kitchen and even kitchen extras such as an Air Fryer! Highly recommend staying here. Horses walked right by one morning!
