Third time at Canvas. I love this place as it's not your standard hotel. Loft-like spacious rooms with high ceilings. Brick walls, sealed concrete floors. The art on the walls is curated and adds personality. Friendly staff that makes an effort. Great service from first interaction to check-out. Great bartenders. Great food. If I visit Dallas, I will stay here.

We had originally booked this property because of the rooftop pool. Our room was located on the 5th floor, and the pool is located on the 6th floor. Due to the loud noises/music of the bar upstairs going until 2am, we hardly got any sleep throughout our entire stay. The rooftop itself is beautiful! We tried to access the pool on Saturday, when we found out it was reserved for a private party. The party was from 2pm-8pm. From that time, we were unable to utilize the bar/pool. We paid a lot for the hotel because of the pool and weren't able to use it for one of the days. We had no idea about the private party until an hour before when they had put signs in the elevator. We asked for a partial refund for not being able to use the utilities as listed, and we received a very very small reimbursement. The bartenders were not friendly and were extremely slow for service. I understand that service slows up when it's busy. But the bartenders were talking and texting in a corner, while multiple people were waiting on drinks at the bar. The bar downstairs was just as slow as the bar upstairs. Overall, the rooms were spacious and clean. The bathrooms have no vent, and you can see into the shower from the bedroom. The lack of communication, loud music, and lack of service is why I'm displeased with our stay. Overpriced hotel.

Checked out within hours of staying in the property. Very noisy next door due to a bar/club sharing the same parking lot, very limited parking in the lot, room was not ready at check-in time at 3pm (and I arrived early hoping for an early check-in around 11am which they said the room would be ready shortly), they gave me a VIP card for 20% off any item and insisted that I could use it at the bar while I waited for the room and that turned out not to be true (on the card it said that it couldn’t be used at the bar but the receptionist insisted). Also, not sure how to explain this but the building has a very bad ventilation system. I’m sure it’s due to the building being older and looks like they converted a warehouse to a hotel so the exposed bricks are very charming but the rooms felt humid and mugy (this is staying there in April too) especially after taking a shower. It felt like my clothes were damp and I just had taken them out of my suitcase. I was very uncomfortable in the rooms and I was battling a respiratory issue at the time so it wouldn’t have helped to stay any longer than I did. It’s decent if you plan to never be at the hotel and just need a place to sleep at night but if you are looking for something better I’d suggest staying somewhere else like I did.

Not a great experience. Close to concert venue which was nice.Bed mattress sunk to where my feet felt elevated. Did not sleep at all first night. Exhausted sightseeing the next day we returned to half the parking lot coned off for valet parking, which created chaos among guests competing for free parking. Hotel trying to be fancy ,but doesn’t have the layout for it. Valets backing out cars, cars waiting for others to pull out. Total chaos . We circled the block five times before deciding just to pay the valet fee. Head valet was rude and pissed me off so I finally just parked a block away on the street ,carried all our things and hoped our car would be ok.Roof top area with pool closed for loud private party.we were entertained looking out our window at the crazy parking lot situation. Charged an additional $46 no explanation to an already expensive stay.I would recommend staying somewhere else.

Very nice hotel with big rooms, location is actually very central, free-parking is great although the lot gets a little crowded occasionally sharing with the restaurant/nightclub next-door but it was never too bad, there is more metered parking up the street where you can park overnight if need be. Very unique rooms! Staff were very friendly and helpful. Great hotel if you are having a concert at the south side music hall because it’s just a one minute walk. Pool is amazing and so was the roof top views!
