Arrived to discover I'd apparently requested a smoking room on the Expedia app, I was unaware you could actually do such a thing. I don't smoke and had no desire to stay in an ashtray. The clerk refused to switch me to a non smoking room, he said because I'd booked on Expedia he could not change my room. There are probably 50 rooms in this run down motel and less than 10 were occupied that night. Sadly the room was worse than sleeping in an ashtray, likely built in the 50's and extremely run down, the stench permeated everything. The TV didn't work, the shower handle just spun around non stop, the sheets were like sack cloth. The "breakfast" was laughable. You could not pay me to stay there again.

Overall, this Best Western was good/very good. The bed was comfortable and the room was quiet with minimal I-10 traffic and train noised. The only negative about the room was the heating and cooling unit that was beneath the window as in so many motels. And like many of the units it was difficult to obtain a comfortable temperature that could be maintained during the evening. The breakfast was good with waffles, eggs, sausage and potatoes plus cereal, muffins, bread, yogurt and a few other items. The dining area was small but because we were there early we did not encounter a problem in finding a place to sit.

We expected more from a Best Western property. It was shabby and poorly maintained. Towels were stained and gray and very poor quality. Toilet ran for ten minutes after flushing. The vent in the bathroom emitted a high pitched “scream” so could not be used. Very uncomfortable bed. We did not stay for breakfast but it looked “OK”. The only reason I didn’t give it one star was the staff was great. Very pleasant and helpful.

Customer service was very rude! Sheets, pillow cases and towels had stains on them. The lock on the door jam was loose. I didn’t feel safe. I jammed a chair under the door knob for extra security. I will never stay at a Best Western ever again.

The motel is old and it is filled with oil workers. The breakfast wasn’t that great. The property has seen better days. I’m not sure how it got rated so high. Their staff were not engaging or friendly We stayed at a best Western in Sweetwater and it was perfect, clean, inviting and the staff were so sociable. What a difference
