I booked this place for my 1 year anniversary considering it was a 5 star hotel with good reviews. However upon arriving the service was not up to 5 star standards. When we had arrived the check in was nice and quick however it took ages for our luggage to come up to the room. I had called the front desk to have it brought up but instead someone came to the room to take luggage instead of bring ours up - 5-10 mins later they brought our luggage up. Upon inspecting the room, the bidet was faulty and not draining water efficiently. The iron in the room was also faulty leaking water and ended up damaging items of clothing which we ended up disposing of. Thirdly the breakfast options are very basic, nothing amazing, a few times the food was closed when we would go around 9-9:30am when the breakfast finished at 10:30am. Also, upon return to the room one evening we noticed the curtains had dropped. I spoke to the front desk and no one had come up to fix it. I went down to the front desk as I was collecting a food delivery at the same time and said again it’s been 20 mins and no one has come to the room. Again some time had past and it was now the 5th call and they finally sent someone up to the room. In all fairness, once the manager had been made aware of these issues and the poor service he had accepted accountability and made the efforts to improve our stay. He had given us a late checkout, upgraded our room and a few other gifts to compensate 5 stars after the complaint

Our stay was wonderful. We got the half board which included breakfast and dinner. Breakfast had everything and we particularly enjoyed the freshly made omelettes, pastry selection and lattes. Dinner also had lovely options. We would have liked to see some more kid friendly choices like plain pasta, fries or nuggets. However, there was a nice selection. Our kids are just a bit more on the fussy side. The rooms were spacious and had all needed amenities. The bath was a lovely size and we liked the rain shower. We asked for a crib and requested an extra bed for our five year old. Both were provided. (The extra bed is an added cost so make sure to sort that out upon arrival) We appreciated that the staff were accomdating, friendly and helpful. The rooftop pool area is lovely! The pool was heated and it had a safe kiddie pool which was a nice touch. There is a lovely play area at the back of the pool where our kids enjoyed playing. Overall, we had a lovely stay and would definitely return again.

The hotel itself looks very grand and luxurious and impressive on entering, but that’s where it ends unfortunately The reception staff were cold and unfriendly. Upon checking in we asked regarding a room upgrade to the junior suite which was available. We asked for this as complimentary excuses when we booked the week before, we paid £120 more for their smaller superior room! Yet on arrival the costs of all rooms had dropped significantly, despite this we asked for an upgrade to junior suite but cheekily the staff said there would be an additional charge of £40 extra per night. In addition the TV did not work throughout our 3 night stay from check in to check out. We Phoned reception every day and was promised it would be dealt with and was never fixed. This was Abysmal service for what is supposedly a 5* “VIP” hotel. I have never experienced such poor staff service at a 5* hotel. Finally the breakfast at the hotel was incredibly poor, for such a grand hotel it’s more like a breakfast for a city hotel. We were taken aback by how limited the number of items on offer for breakfast and how small the size of the serving area was. There was littl variety of friut, little to non existent service m, not once were we offered a cup of tea. The staff were there for show and it is not what you would expect from a name such as Steigenberger. All in all this could be a 5* hotel but the staff and non existent maintenance team and breakfast let the hotel down massively
