I very much enjoyed my stay at The Fleet. The staff were the soul of cordiality—so helpful and friendly.
Room and bed very comfortable. Good breakfast buffet with a lot of options for vegetarians—fruit and porridge and pancakes and cereals and almond milk. I did mention to the manager the lack of veggie sausages and he said, “We’ll have some for you tomorrow.” And for an added bonus, there is a Tesco right across the street.
The location is absolutely prime--Aircoach drops you at O’Connell Bridge stop and then it’s just a few minutes walk south from the Liffey to the hotel on Fleet Street. In fact, everything is walkable from this location. Just south of the hotel is the impressive Bank of Ireland and then Grafton St., down to St. Stephens’s Green; then while you’re in the area, the historic Shelbourne Hotel is right there.
Nearby is the National Library and National Museum of Ireland. The Fleet is in the Temple Bar area and it's just a short walk from there to Dublin Castle, Christ’s Church Cathedral, and the St. Patrick’s Cathedral. And Trinity College is just a 2 minute stroll from the hotel.
The Tara Street DART station is also just a few minutes away, and you can take the train down the coast to Dun Laoghaire, Dalkey and Killiney.
My favorite part of the the hotel was the lounge area—it is small and cosy with soothing lights and full of comfortable chairs and sofas and two little fireplaces.
I hope to stay there again on my next trip to Ireland.
