Magnificent views, remote location, only 5 miles from town! 2 bedrooms,(king/king), 1 bath guest house on large estate bordering Perin's Peak. Shopping, and restaurants in Downtown Durango are only 5 miles away. The trailhead for the 500 mile long Colorado Trail is just 1.5 miles away!

A hiker's dream - the surrounding San Juan National Forest offers numerous hiking option's with absolutely stunning 360° views. A full kitchen that has been recently updated with all new granite countertops, vaulted living room, gas BBQ, and internet. The bathroom was also recently updated with a beautiful new ceramic/porcelain tile tub/shower combo.

Guests will be sent a vacation rental agreement by Durango Colorado Vacations (the property manager) to e-sign at the time of booking.

Note: This home does not have Air Conditioning. Most homes do come equipped with box and ceiling fans.

A friendly reminder before you book your stay, is to remember we are trusted to manage independent and family-owned homes. We simply ask that you treat these homes and properties with the same respect that you would expect one to treat yours. Due to a recent uptick in unauthorized guest, pets and gatherings. We are implementing a strict "one strike" policy for any guest that are found having any unauthorized gatherings, pets or guest with them in the home. Failure to disclose any of the stated above will result in immediate termination of stay with no refund being issued for unused nights.

Please note that most properties are outfitted with outdoor security cameras.

Cancellation Policy:
If your arrival date is within 30 days of booking, payment in full is required at the time of booking. Cancellations or changes that are made more than thirty (30) days in advance of your arrival will receive a 100% refund minus a $250 cancellation fee. Between (29) days and fifteen (15) days before arrival, guest will be refunded 50% of the reservation amount. (14) days or less to arrival, no refunds given.
For reservations that are at least thirty (30) nights, the cancellation policy increases to sixty (60) days prior to the arrival date to receive a 100% refund minus a $250 cancellation fee Cancellations made between thirty one (31) days in advance of your arrival and (59) days will receive a 50% refund.

Trip insurance is available for purchase and is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED.

Incredible place with amazing hosts

The house and amenities were fantastic! The house and kitchen had everything you could need. Our 6 and 8 year old had the best time, there were kids books, toys, a horseshoe pit, and tons of space they could explore. The views are incredible from the balcony, the out door dining table, or exploring the land. Bill and Bonnie were the ultimate hosts! We can’t wait to go come back. If you are looking for a place to relax, be in nature, and close to town this is it. This was our favorite VRBO to date!

Perfectly charming home away from home

My wife and I stayed here for a week with our two sons (5 and 7), as a home base while we explored the surrounding areas: Durango, Silverton, Ouray, etc. Bill and Bonnie were amazing hosts, and the space itself was perfectly clean, maintained, and well-appointed. My family had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We ended our week wishing that we had more time to stay, and intending to find our way back in the future. I wholeheartedly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a quiet, authentically "Rocky Mountain Colorado" place to call their home away from home.

A wonderful experience.

This is not just a place to stay, it’s an experience. LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION. It is nestled above the valley with unobstructed views of the buttes. Campfires, horseshoes, trails to hike that open into wilderness areas. Bill was knowledgeable and gave us instructions to get to beautiful hikes that were close by. The 4 star for cleanliness was due to one of the bedrooms had not been dusted and had a thick layer of dust. Otherwise it was very clean. We definitely want to come back!!!

If you want an "out of town" but close to town experience, this is it. Right at 5 mins to the heart of Durango, but you feel like you are 2 hrs out. Incredible views from the front and back areas and the firepit. Comfortable, clean and modern accommodations. And the host is the best! Very welcoming and friendly, and has great suggestions for things to do in the area. Great stay

Fantastic, Memorable, Safe and the Views!!!!

What can I say? Staying at this 75-acre estate was amazing and made our vacation in Durango even more memorable. The hosts are welcoming and are incredible people. We loved getting to know them. If you are like us and don't prefer to stay in the heart of touristy areas, you will love it. We saw deer, wild turkeys and heard so many birds chirping every morning. The views from every part of the property were AMAZING. We felt very safe and there was plenty of space to store our mountain bikes in the barn. The property is kept immaculate. The location is perfect and not very far from town. This was our home away from home. Definitely stay here! You will not regret it.

Perfect

We found this home and property to be even better than the pictures and description. The mountain views were amazing, wildlife was plentiful and fun to see, the crisp air was refreshing and the home was well appointed and had everything we needed. The location was perfect; very secluded yet 5 mins to Durango. The hosts were friendly and gracious. We would highly recommend this property and we will definitely stay there again when in Durango.

Durango Retreat

My brother and I stayed at this lovely property for 3 nights while exploring Durango. It was the perfect place to come back to after a busy day. We found the home to be as advertised and equipped with everything we needed. It was great to be able to have a washer and dryer to use. Having two master suites with king beds was appreciated as well. The daytime views of the mountains, not to mention the nighttime show of stars, made it an unforgettable experience. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to stay there again in the future.

Lovely get away. Awesome view, let me repeat that, awesome view! We hiked every day because that’s what we love to do. Close enough to town to eat out. The owner can give you lots of info on the area. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Awesome place to stay when visiting the San Juans! Bill made us feel at home the moment we arrived. Everything was clean and comfortable. Close enough to town but far enough away to be quiet. Amazing location and views, quiet and peaceful

Really enjoyed our stay. Only negative for me was we spent too much time running all over Durango and almost no time on the property. This place almost begs for you to slow down, stay a bit, read a book, etc. The solitude and stunning views are worth taking an extra day or two to relax and simply enjoy. Everything about the stay was perfect.

Beautiful and serene setting

This property exceeded our expectations! The hosts were welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Very clean and beds we're comfortable! WiFi, TV and all you need to enjoy an in-house movie was great! But the scenery topped it all. Great Views

The views from this location are beautiful! You have views of Durango in the valley and the opposite mountains. It is a great location to sit outside and take in the view. The checkin process is very easy. The owners will meet you at the top of the mountain and provide you an overview of the property and amenities. It was a well stocked “barndeminium” - very clean with everything you need.

Long awaited time away from everything

The property is what we needed, it was quiet, the only neighbor was the owners primary residence, which was far enough away. You are in the mountains, basically on what feels like a private mountain range. Only 14 minutes from downtown Durango.

Breath taking views

This is an excellent place to stay if you're looking for a quite and peaceful vacation with beautiful views. We enjoyed our stay and the hospitality of the owners, Bill and Bonnie. It was exactly what we were looking for. The home is very well kept. Had everything we needed. It is close to town and the surrounding areas you'll want to visit. There are trails that you are able to hike if you are into that or some places to just sit and enjoy the view. Had a great time during our stay!

Lovely Location

Beautiful, quiet and peaceful guest house on top of a hill. Very calming with sweeping views. One note, the photos of the guest house don't show that the owner's home is directly above you. You can get great views by sitting outside on the many chairs the owners have set up on all sides of the house, which is great. The actual view in the house from the windows is a bit difficult as most of them are set quite high so if you are short or average height, you have to stand at the window to see the amazing views. Also, the owners have two very large dogs who are friendly when introduced. They do chase your car as you pass the owner's house and nip at your car wheels. We were very nervous that we would run a dog over which we very much did not want to do! The owners told us about the dogs chasing the car but it's still a little unnerving as you drive by to get to the guest house. Lastly, please no political opinions - owner mentioned how they left California due to the "crazies" wrecking it, right after he asked where I was from originally and I said California and my entire family still lives there. Also, we can hear you when you talk on the deck on the phone, I was aware of you discussing that we were from Boulder, "the most liberal college town in the country." The last thing I want to do is talk politics when we just want to have a nice relaxing vacation. Just a friendly reminder that there's no need to bring up any divisive issues, we can just enjoy being guests in your lovely guest house and don't want to feel like we are being judged. Thank you for sharing your beautiful retreat.

Incredible!

We absolutely loved our stay on Mount Memories. The house was clean, well stocked, and had an unbeatable view. Bill was incredibly kind and helpful, and it was obvious that extra care went into making our two children feel at home - there were toys, books, stuffed animals, and horseshoes set out for them to play with. They didn't want to leave! (Some clarity on the driveway since others have mentioned it - we have a FrontWD low clearance minivan that had no problem getting up and down the driveway, though we also live in CO so the pitch wasn't overwhelming for us.)
