Jay Cooke Cottage: Pets welcome, Close to Jay Cooke, park like yard & fire pit

We welcome you to the entire cottage and park like yard on jay cooke rd. We are located in a rural area in the small town of Esko, MN which is a family friendly community with forest spaces and woods between many of the residences

A few miles down the road you will find yourself in Jay cooke state park with the superior hiking trail (SHT) and the munger trail boasting several miles of rugged hiking paths and smooth blacktop paths for bikin, rollerblading etc.

The quiet neighborhood will help you enjoy star filled nights by the fire pit. Sounds of 'up north' nature and wildlife include the frogs singing in the spring. We have seen black bear off esko ramp 2024, and many bald eagles in front of the cottage 2024.

We have six camp and outdoori chairs, with outdoor and patio furniture including a hammock. This is your escape from the cities hustle and bustle but close enough to duluth mn and superior, wi or makes a great base to the north snd south shore.

Jay Cooke Cottage invites all outdoor enthusiasts to partake in miles of mountain biking, rollerblading, birding, hiking, nature trails, cross country skiing, snow shoeing, disc golf, horse trails, fishing, snowboarding, downhill skiing, rock hounding, kayaking, paddle boarding, great photography and much more.

Our kitchen is supplied with any utensil you would need to cook a meal for your whole family or group.

We have a coffee pot that brews by the pot or uses k-pods. If you wish to cook outside we have a charcoal grill and freestanding grill for over the fire pit.

The cottage was freshly redone in 2024 including local nature art, Himalayan salt lamps, secondary lighting, essential oil diffusers and a zen nature vibe.

Our cottage does NOT have any cameras your privacy.

It was a nice place with pretty good privacy. The road was a little busy with cars at times but we were out and about more than there so it wasn’t much of a bother. We did have a fire one night which was a good way to relax after a day of hiking in Duluth. Great communication from the property owners!

Mike's place is the perfect location for access to Jay Cooke State Park, the Munger Trail, even a day trip into Duluth. The cabin is pretty close to the road, but there was hardly any traffic at all. I would say that it is more ideal for 2-4 people rather then our 6. The bedrooms are really tight if you have a pack and play or air mattress for kids and the dining area is small. But everything was clean and pleasant and we had a great stay!

Clean and comfortable. Kitchen is perfectly adequately equipped. Nice coffee maker. Comfortable beds. Hot water heater could use more capacity so stagger shower times.

Best vacation!

The property location, atmosphere and hosts made it one of our best trips.We enjoyed the ease of accesing Jay Cooke and the munger trail and we enjoyed our evenings returning back from Lake Superior. Exactly What We Needed

We loved staying in this very clean and quiet cottage. The beds are comfortable, the living area is spacious as is the bathroom,. It's a great location! Jay Cook park offers many trails. We spent time in Duluth and Two Harbors, too. Both are easy drives from the cottage.

Gorgeous Clean Stay Near Duluth

One of the nicest places we have ever stayed. Super duper clean, convenient to Duluth and local attractions, and truly superb hosts. Very prompt and thorough with communication. We are so glad we got to get away at this little gem.

Northern Cottage

A great stay, and we weren’t even there long enough to enjoy the huge yard, with room for any number of yard games and with a fire pit! Mom and 9- year old son in one room, young couple with baby in a pack & play in the other, and “old auntie” on the futon- worked perfectly. Room to play table (card) games after dinner, kids to sleep in rooms early so there was grown-up visiting time, a very comfy stay. I will definately book again when we are up in that area. Oh, and so convenient to all of the tourist & park stuff in Duluth & surrounding area- thank you hosts for providing some thoughts for that! Easy, quick access to Duluth and north shore, yet back to the woods and stars for the night at “home”- the best of both worlds!

Great cabin close to Duluth

This cabin was the perfect place to be out in the woods and have privacy but still close enough to drive to Black Bear casino or up to Duluth or Two Harbors for the day. Everything was very clean, well-kept, and Mike and Andrea were very helpful and did a great job communicating with us so we knew what to expect. We hope to come back again!

Easy to get to, feels remote!

We had a great time in this cozy cabin! It rained when we may have been outside so we didn’t get to use the fire pit but it was nice to have a comfy place inside to cook and recover after a long day of hiking and exploring. We knew it was close to Jay Cooke but it’s ridiculously close! Super convenient without the hassle of staying in the park. Owners were super responsive throughout as well! Highly recommend.

Quick getaway

My partner and I stayed here for two night just to get away from the cities for a birthday. It was very clean and comfy! The communication from the owners was amazing and also included so many great recommendations!! The property wasn’t quite as private as I expected (immediate neighbors) but that also could have been due to the trees not being filled in. Still a great stay and we would return :)

Very nice cabin, great owners!

We had to come to town for a family emergency and Mike and Andrea were great! I met Mike when I got there since I was early and he was extremely helpful. I drove 22 hours straight and Mike let me get in early and gave me some good information on some restaurants and things in the area. Andrea had communicated with me the night before about the weather and some other information and they were both very helpful! Cabin was neat and clean. Very cute little place. Would stay again if the opportunity presents itself!

I had some issues with being new to VRBO but they were helpful through it.The house is right down the road from Jay Cooke Park and it’s SO cute.

Overall good experience

Went up for snowmobiling, it’s really close to some good trails.wasn’t a big deal but had a little issue with some plumbing that was totally out of their control and not their fault . But they went above and beyond and they took care of it asap and gave us gift card for a local restaurant for the inconvenience. We will rent again when/ if come back up for snowmobiling

Pre-Semester Get Away

I wanted a nice little place to stay and unwind before classes started for the semester. I found this cute little listing and became incredibly excited! I really enjoyed the place and the area! Its a nice little spot if you’re looking to relax, read, watch movies, and nap! I look forward to staying here again in the future!
