Jay Cooke Cottage: family and pet friendly, privacy in the woods, with fire pit

Come and enjoy our entire cottage in the trees on Jay Cooke Rd outside official state park markers. We are in a rural area in the small town of Esko, MN. A family friendly community with large yards.

Out the door and to the right, with a walk or ride you will find the superior hiking trail and the munger trail as well.


The tall pines surrounding the cottage help you enjoy quiet star filled nights by the fire pit. We have six camp chairs, with outdoor and patio furniture to enjoy. It is so quiet and beautiful in the winter.


Jay Cooke invites all outdoor enthusiasts boasting areas close by for snowmobiling trails, hiking trails, biking trails, x country skiing trails, horse trails, snowshoeing, and great photography.

We are a kid and dog friendly cottage. Esko is on the outskirts of Duluth in a very safe and family friendly neighborhood. The community boasts large acre properties with privacy.

There is a shortcut to Duluth through the jay cooke state park down to chambers grove park by mission creek and the boy scout boat landing

We offer free *fat wood* to assist you in getting a great fire going and enough wood for a few more.

Our kitchen is supplied with any utensil you would need to cook a meal for the whole family.

We have a coffee pot that brews by the pot or uses k-pods. If you wish to cook outside we have a charcoal grill and freestanding grill for over the fire pit.

We also have a digital antenna with local channels and other popular channels for TV and a small library of some of our favorite dvds.

Our cottage does not have any cameras for your privacy.

We truly enjoy helping others discover the area and take pride here, residing a few miles away.

I had some issues with being new to VRBO but they were helpful through it.The house is right down the road from Jay Cooke Park and it’s SO cute.

Overall good experience
Went up for snowmobiling, it’s really close to some good trails.wasn’t a big deal but had a little issue with some plumbing that was totally out of their control and not their fault . But they went above and beyond and they took care of it asap and gave us gift card for a local restaurant for the inconvenience. We will rent again when/ if come back up for snowmobiling

I wanted a nice little place to stay and unwind before classes started for the semester. I found this cute little listing and became incredibly excited! I really enjoyed the place and the area! Amazingly accommodating
The hosts were amazingly accommodating! Our trip was delayed due to weather and they were able to extend our stay and help us out greatly. The property was very private and comfortable and nice for our dogs. It was incredibly clean and we would recommend staying there to anyone. We look forward to staying again in the future!

Quick Christmas Getaway
We absolutely enjoyed our 2 night stay. I surprised the family with a quick getaway as an early Christmas gift. Mike & Andrea were great. About a week or so before our stay they sent us things to do in the area and they were in communication with us the whole trip to make sure everything was going well. The cottage is the cutest little place and very clean and accommodating. Except for the groceries they had everything we could possibly have needed including a Christmas tree for the holiday season. We would absolutely stay there again on our next trip to the Duluth/Superior area.

We went up north for the weekend & couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay! We did so much exploring in the area, especially loved how close jay Cooke state park was & munger trail. Food/shops were nearby as well which was nice. Loved how cute & cozy this cottage in the woods was!

Peaceful comfy retreat
Adoreable little place, with everything needed for comfort. We had some fires and they did have some fire starters, wood and chairs for us.they had some essential oils and cute diffuser, an air cleaner and fans in each room. Very close to jay Cooke state park, quiet and peaceful.

Memories
This cozy small house was a perfect fit for little getaway with our daughter and son in law. It was fun to just get away for a few days and make some memories. It was a short drive to Duluth. The cottage was very clean and had everything we needed. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating. We will come back.

Lovely stay in Esko
We had a wonderful time staying at this nice home in Esko, which was close to a beautiful park, quiet and in the trees and a short drive to Duluth. Highly recommend this place. The hosts were friendly and easy to communicate with. We were a day delayed and they even offered us a free day next time we come to make up for the day we missed.

Fishing trip
If you want a safe and private place to stay and get a chance to fish lake superior this place is fantastic, about 30 minutes from a well kept boat launch. The host was very helpful and the cabin was perfect for our group. I will be back again to catch more fish next year for sure. If you want a great stay at a great price you cant go wrong. Perfect little getaway
Our little family loved this cozy place! Easy to find, close to highways to get to Duluth, and not far from Jay Cooke State Park. Stocked kitchen, firewood and comfy beds. Communication was great and welcoming! Highly suggest doing this over getting a hotel room. Our oldest has already been asking when we’ll come back. ☺️

Cozy, clean and close to everything we needed!
I loved this home and it was perfect for myself and my two small dogs. They loved the yard and I appreciated the clean, cozy home with modern decor and everything we needed. It’s close to the highway to Duluth or Cloquet, yet tucked away on a private lot near the state park and beautiful trails!

Great base for our weekend!
We had a great stay at this property! Well appointed little cabin and we were able to sleep 6 in the space. Plenty of room outside to stretch out as well. Hosts were super about communication and sharing tips, as we hadn’t previously been in this area. Would definitely seek out this rental again!
