I stayed at the Brunelleschi Hotel in Florence 30 years ago in 1995, and again in 2006. It is extremely well situated just a stone’s throw from the Duomo but in a tranquil little piazza. The hotel has been completely renovated (probably several times!) since my last visit, and is elegant and sophisticated. The staff were friendly and welcoming on this visit in 2025 and I was even checked in by a lovely lady who had been working there back in 1995! My check-in and out were seamless and the concierge staff were prompt and helpful with my many bags. All the staff speak English but they accommodated my imperfect Italian which I greatly appreciated.
My only grievance for the stay, was the bed. While the Superior room was spacious and stylish, the bed was comprised of two singles pushed together, with nothing but a sheet on the top to cover the fissure in the middle. For one person, it was extremely uncomfortable and I spent a sleepless night even after trying to level it out with a towel and a blanket.
I’ll definitely return to this lovely hotel and I won’t wait another 30 years. But I will be very specific when booking the room to ensure I get a true double or queen bed and not 2 badly combined singles.
