I absolutely love what they’ve done with this place. I’ve been staying at this hotel for years, back when it was owned by other companies, and it has always felt safe and quiet. If you asked younger me, I’d say the food and bar used to be better, but I wouldn’t trade that for the massive upgrade they’ve done to the rooms.
I can be a bit of a hotel snob, and this property impressed me. Everything felt spotless—no stray hairs, no lingering smells, none of that “Orlando Water Park Resort” scent I can’t stand. Even being so close to the beach, the room felt fresh and exceptionally clean. The sheets, bathroom, and overall setup were perfect.
The food and drinks at the bar were great, and I was thrilled to see my old buddy Melton still working there! What really stood out, though, was how friendly and accommodating the staff was. That made all the difference.
This hotel is special to me. I grew up in Sanibel, as my grandmother lived right across the street, and I spent a lot of my life staying here or hanging out at the restaurant and bar. She’s now at Shell Point retirement home just off the island, and on this visit to see her, I decided to stay at the newly opened hotel. I couldn’t have been happier with that choice.
From thinking I’d never stay in Sanibel again, to finding an affordable, clean, safe, and welcoming hotel that I’ve seen evolve over the last 30 years, it was an amazing experience. I highly recommend it.
