The Tides Retreat

Reserve this gorgeous beachfront paradise, consisting of both the main house and an on-site guest home, situated right on the shore of the Carr Inlet. Between the two rentals, you'll have plenty of space for up to nine lucky guests. The single-story main house features a chic, tastefully appointed living room with large windows, record player (with a large selection of vinyl), and a fun, retro jukebox. Prepare meals in the full, updated kitchen, or fire up the gas grill and dine outside on the expansive, furnished deck. The 650-square-foot guest house includes a well-equipped compact kitchen, a desk and chair, cozy furnishings, and its own furnished patio area with an additional grill.

Drop in to the water and take your kayak out for a morning paddle. Kopachuck State Park, just a couple miles away, features two miles of shaded hiking trails, sun-warmed beaches, picnic areas, and outdoor activities that include swimming, paddleboarding, boating, shellfish harvesting, and saltwater fishing. Only five miles from this rental, visit downtown Gig Harbor for shops, restaurants, and even a movie theater. And enjoy a day trip or two to Vashon Island (the Point Defiance Ferry is 14 miles east), Tacoma (16 miles southeast), Port Orchard (19 miles north), or Seattle (35 miles northeast).

All guests shall abide by Vacasa’s good neighbor policy and shall not engage in illegal activity. Quiet hours are from 10:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.
No smoking is permitted anywhere on the premises.
Full kitchens in both rentals.
The Tides Retreat consists of Little Tides and The Tides, both of which may be rented individually.

If you are bringing a dog on your trip, the pet fee is already included in your quote when selecting ‘Yes’ to pets. If you would like to add more dogs, please contact us. The pet fee is per stay and ranges between $150 and $200, depending on the bedroom count, and will apply for each additional dog.

Parking notes: There is free parking available for 5 vehicles.



Damage waiver: The total cost of your reservation for this Property includes a nightly damage waiver fee, plus tax if applicable (the “Damage Waiver”). (A discount may be applied for stays of 28 nights or longer, if permitted.) The Damage Waiver covers you for up to $3,000 of accidental damage to the Property or its contents (such as furniture, fixtures, and appliances) as long as you report the incident to the host prior to checking out. The Damage Waiver fee eliminates the need for a traditional security deposit.

Due to local laws or HOA requirements, guests must be at least 21 years of age to book. Guests under 21 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian for the duration of the reservation.

Delightful house on the water

We are from Seattle and wanted to rent a house to kayak in the south sound area. This house was the ideal location. The house has a beautiful view over the water to Raft Island. We loved watching the tides come and go. The deck off the back is huge and a lovely place to sit and watch the view, read books, barbecue, and just hang out. The inside is so comfortable, with a large living room and large dining table and complete kitchen facilities. The beds are super comfy. We found lots of places within 30-40 minutes to put our kayak in and explore. We loved our whole week here and have signed up again for next year.

Lovely House and Location

Stayed here with my spouse, friends and dogs. It was a large, lovely home with a great yard for the dogs. Being on the water was so nice in the morning and I loved sitting in the chairs staring out into the water enjoying a glass of wine. Convenient to Gig Harbor town. We enjoyed the record player and juke box immensely!!

Great little getaway for a family reunion

We really enjoyed staying at the Tides Retreat. There was room for our whole family. It's a beautiful house right on the water. That provided plenty of entertainment for kids and adults alike! I would highly recommend it!

High school Friends gathering

Location is beautiful and relaxing. Of the two bathrooms one is only useable f mobility is an issue. The second bathroom shower has a high step in and a deep step down. If short legged it would be difficult getting out. We especially enjoyed the vinyl albums and turn table. Great selection of music.

The Tides Family get together

The location of the property and the view were great. The space was also comfortable and worked well for a family get together. Unfortunately it was managed by vacasa and I did NOT have a good experience with them. Poor and impersonal communication leading up to the rental and I had to call them when we arrived because they only provided the code to enter one of the two houses. They seemed to do the bare minimum to keep both houses running between rentals. There were notes on several of the windows saying that they were broken and not to open them - in areas that were hot and stuffy, where opening a window could have helped. We also had to spend a lot of time cleaning off the back deck before we could use it - it was totally covered in pine needles, like it hadn't been blown off in weeks. Outdoor furniture was old and tattered and the gate surrounding the yard and entry to the water was completely rusted and falling apart. Overall, we had a nice time with our family here, but the rental was expensive and should have been in better shape. Based on this experience, I would also rather deal direct with the home owner than a property manager such as vacasa in the future.

Great house but cleaning needed work

This is the second time we've stayed in this rental. The house itself, the surrouding property, the water front all amazing and we can't say enough positive comments about these things. The cleaning this time was troublesome. One of the king bedrooms did not have sheets, just a fitted sheet and a duvet with no cover. We were able to put sheets on ouselves. In fact none of the duvets had covers which made us wonder how they were cleaned between stays... There were trash items found on the floor of the ensuite bathroom, that's fine we disposed of them. What was troublesome throughout our stay was finding empty capsules tucked in couch cushions, and in the depressions in the ottoman. We have pets and were pretty lucky one of the dogs did not find these capsules themselves. Not sure what was housed in these pill sized empty capsules because whatever was in them was emptied out and all we found were the leftover dead soldiers. We left a few on the mantle of the fireplace in order to show the cleaners what to be on the lookout for. We also found beads, so many beads, in the carpets and along the cracks in the floor against the walls. Finding those with our feet was not very pleasant. We are cleanly people and generally leave the homes we stay in cleaner than when we received so 3 dish pods were a little disappointing for the size group and how many dishes we went through making our own meals there over 5 days. Again, cannot say enough about the home itself and the surrounding property. ALSO, Donna, the contact for our stay was wonderful when we needed her in locating our garbage cans after track pick up day. She came out and was able to locate them for us within just a few hours of when she was contacted. Overall I would recommend this home, but really hope the cleaning standards are raised.

Fall Heaven

Gorgeous landscaping, views of the Sound and fall colors. The privacy and comfort of this property was more than we expected. The plumbing (only one person showering at a time w/multiple bathrooms) was a minor inconvenience but overall the place was perfect for a few days away. We even took one day just to stay at and enjoy the property instead of going out to do things because it was so inviting.

Beautiful Property

Our family had a fun stay at the Tides. The deck was the center of our activity with the surrounding grounds absolutely lovely. We had total privacy to enjoy the view of the water and enjoyed using the kayak in the calm water. The caretaker Donna was terrific and responded quickly. The only problem we had was with Vacasa when they didn’t send access codes to the doors until 7;56 that evening. They came on the VRBO website at 5:00 pm. Only because Donna called me about something was I able to get the codes before 4:00. Overall we had a great time there.

Picture perfect PNW property

Communication between property manager was great - easy check in 😊 once you walk in the door, the floor to ceiling windows opening up to the water view took my breath away- the most beautiful scenery!!! The property is very well landscaped very comfortable to be out on the deck or In the yard with the water and mountains right in front of you! The house was perfect for hosting my family for a reunion- large kitchen, lots of space to spread out!! The jukebox and album collection available was a really nice bonus!! Grill on deck was great- and we enjoyed the fire pit as well! Having the “little tides” guest house was PERFECT for the couple who had a 2 year old- lots of space in there!! Plus a refrigerator and private bathroom made their stay comfortable and private! The master bedroom was spacious with spectacular water view as well!’ This is exactly the spot to show off the beauty of the Pacific Northwest!! Thank you for allowing us to enjoy this home ❤️

Beautiful view on Carr Inlet

This home was clean and spacious. Quiet neighborhood. The view of the water was calming and we saw many birds including eagles. The beds were very comfortable. Many albums to choose from as well as a juke box. Restaurants and shopping are just 10 minutes away.

Fabulous Waterfront Getaway!!

This was a beautiful property!! The house was perfect and the kitchen was fully stocked!! We stayed for 3 nights and never left the property!! The fenced backyard was perfect, so our dog could enjoy a little freedom!! The sunsets and water views were amazing!! Loved the juke box and vinyl collection! We would definitely stay again!!

Great place, great price, poor response to thermostat issues

Loved the home and property and view. Very disappointed with no return calls when one thermostat stopped working. Also had lots of tealites but none had good batteries. The fireplace also didnot work. Disappointing. Furniture andbedsvery comfortable. Great kitchen. Great music albums and juke box. Service staffneeds to respond to calls.

Chilly, but lovely stay

Our hosts were lovely. Property was clean and amenities were all functioning. Only challenge is we were there during the coldest part of the year. Temperature in the house was 60 degrees inside and it took a very long time to warm up. I recommend that you bring warm slipper socks as well. There are no window coverings so it was challenging to keep warm in the main room and the floors although lovely were never warm. I think this place would be awesome in the summer.

Top Notch!

Tides Retreat was terrific place for four long-time friends to reunite for a week-long visit. The house is well equipped, boasts a clean, contemporary decor (even a working jukebox!), has a large deck with great views, located on the water across from Raft Island and near beautiful Gig Harbor and Mount Rainier. The main house and guest house were even better than expected, as the photos do not do it justice. Thanks to our hosts for a delightful stay!

Great property!

So many unexpected amenities - Bosch dishwasher, washer and dryer easily accessible, Keurig coffee maker, kayak and life vests, grill, comfortable outdoor seating, even a well stocked album collection with a great sound system and a Bose sound bar (download the app) with the 75 inch tv. The view was amazing! We look forward to our next stay at this property.

Beautiful location but mismanaged home

This property is in a wonderful location, but it is being devalued by improper management. Had to spent our first hour upon arrival vacuuming as it had not been done. That may have to do with the fact that their expensive Dyson did not work. Thank goodness there was also a Dirt Devil. Next job was to cook dinner only to find that the saucepan was food encrusted. No sponges or dishtowels were provided. Many of the electrical outlets in the main living room would not hold a plug and all 8 ceiling lamps were nonfunctional.

Can’t wait to return!

Absolutely gorgeous grounds, landscaping and location. Huge, spacious big house and we rented the little house as well so as to have the property all to ourselves. We had 5 adults and 4 dogs and we all had an great time! Easy to book, easy to communicate with listing before and during our stay. Well be back for sure!

3 days stay with sisters

The home is lovely, but our ability to get help from the org was frustrating. When we got there the house was freezing. We called and they said they'd call back in an hour and then send someone out to help. No call, no help. We text another number who gave some instructions, but they did not produce fixes for the heat or the whole large wall where all outlets did not work. there was only one lamp in the large living room and cold hard ceiling lights. The next day the house was still very cold. We found small electric heaters but will had issues with plugging them in. The house remained cold but a bit less so the 2nd night. We pulled lamps from the bedrooms but could only plug in on one side of the room and there were no tables to help get the lamps close to the seating. We were left only one small kitchen towel. No electric extension cords. When we were leaving we found that the cleaner had left wet laundry in the washing machine, with no note to ask if we could dry it for them - which we gladly would have. Because the lighting was so poor in the large living room we decided to use the gas fire place. We learned it was not set up to use. We then tried the 18 electric/battery run candles left in the fire place and along the mantle to create light and ambiance. No go. All 18 candles were burned out and with no extra batteries left to replace them.
