What a cute little place! The main lodge is so cool with its historical charm, and our room was perfect sized and very clean. We even walked around the property and found a beautiful spot right on the lake to sit and have a glass of wine. Only minor complaint is if you stay in the motel, you can hear every truck that passes on the highway. But this place was lovely and I would stay here again. Thank you, Solbakken!

From the time we checked in, service was great. Staff friendly, service efficient. The room is basic, but very clean. We parked right in front of our door. There were dishes and pans and a 2 burner stove perfect for whipping up breakfast and a grill off a private deck to grill dinner. Tables and chairs outside for our convenience. Great place to stay if you are looking for reasonable, clean, friendly and dog friendly. We will be sure to go back.

Very nice rustic option for those not wanting to pay the standard resort prices on the north shore. Great location on the north side of Lutsen with easy access to the Superior Hiking Trail. We stayed in the motel section. The rooms are a little outdated but great for the price! Each has a small kitchenette that provides the option of some easy meals in the room. We enjoyed breakfast here each morning before setting off on our daily adventures to see the nearby waterfalls. They were also in process of updating the motel room bathrooms. The staff was super friendly and we enjoyed some great conversation upon check-in.

The overall experience was phenomenal!! My kids really enjoyed the lake view and were very excited to see otters riding the waves in the early mornings.The staff’s were very helpful and made our stay such a fun and enjoyable time.

Solbakkon has kept the old school feel of the lake resort. We stayed in the motel part that was pet friendly. The room was dated, but expected. Everything was clean. A small kitchenette and dishes where perfect for breakfast. Walking around the property was beautiful. And the lodge was great with games and hang out space. The staff was friendly, even sweet treats offered!! We also stayed warm and comfortable in negative degrees.

Bathroom was old with almost no water pressure in the shower. During a shower the temperature suddenly went from hot to cold and stayed that way for a few minutes before it warmed back to lukewarm so I could rinse off. The bed had a noticeable sag in the middle leading to a sore back in the morning. The view from the room was fantastic, the majestic Lake Superior in all its splendor. The place was dog friendly and the staff was nice and helpful.
