Completely reconstructed 1800's Vermont barn full of charm and character with original hand hewn beams and barn board interior. Recently dismantled, cleaned and restored, the owner/architect-builder has incorporated all of today's modern amenities. A four person hot tub and a 4k laser projection 130" movie screen with Bose Surround Sound provide hours of entertainment either apres ski or post hiking.
Other amenities include a fully equipped chef's kitchen, large mudroom (with heated floor), heated bath floors, large wrap around front porch (and soon to be completed outdoor elevated deck.) A four person hot tub and patio are just out the back door where you can soak and relax under the stars. An outdoor shower is right there to wash off and another full bath is to be completed this fall, making it two full baths and two half baths.
The home's central, most impressive feature, is the three story vaulted living/dining room area. Here the barn's authentic Vermont character and rich dramatic textures envelope the viewer in the warmth of genuine antique barn board and beams. All of the original timbers are on display and showcase this age old barn construction technique.
There are three comfortable and inviting bedrooms with queen beds and easily sleeps seven. Each bedroom is warm and cozy, perfect for a good night's sleep. The third floor loft has three built-in queen beds that kids (and parents) of all ages will adore. The property also features three bathrooms (one with with shower, another outdoor shower by hot tub), ensuring guests have plenty of space to freshen up.
Located in the heart of the Green Mountains, we are 30 minutes from Sugarbush & Mad River Glen, 15 minutes from Middlebury College Snow Bowl and 45 minutes from Killington/Pico. Granville is in one of the best areas for stargazing. It ranks a 2 on the Bortle Dark Sky scale (1 to 9, 1 being the best.) Great hiking is also just minutes away with the Long Trail and many other spurs nearby. Waterfalls and quaint Vermont towns are all within easy reach. Fine dining in nearby Rochester, Warren and Waitsfield make for an absolutely fantastic experience!
Completely solar powered (Tesla battery back-up) with three independent heat pumps and AC, guests can stay comfortable no matter the season. It's easy to see why you'll be able to unwind and never want to leave the Birch Barn!
PETS: Pets are allowed, but there is a $50 fee for the additional cleaning and wear. Please check the box on your reservation request or contact the owner. We also ask that you pick up any land mines and keep them from barking excessively.
WINTER: 4wd Car recommendation: It is recommended that you have a 4wd car or truck in the winter AND good SNOW TIRES. "All-season" tires are useless in the fresh snow, especially on the hills. The property manager and town are very good about plowing, but the hills can be tricky during snow storms and many people have had to get towed.
TRAVEL INSURANCE: WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND PURCHASING TRAVEL INSURANCE. If you are prevented from taking your trip because of a covered reason, such as a sickness or injury of yourself or a family member, Travel Protection can help reimburse 100% of your prepaid, nonrefundable trip costs that you would otherwise lose when you cancel.
NOISE: Although the cabin is very private, we have two other homes on the property as well. Other homes may not be visible from there, but sound travels a long distance. We ask that our guests be courteous and not play loud music, especially at night. We are fortunate to have great neighbors and want to keep it that way!
