Our room view was the roof of a courtyard with hallway and room windows. Having stayed at other hotels in the maritimes with gorgeous views, this was very depressing. We couldn't keep our drapes open. The rooms are old and need to be remodeled. It reminded me of hotel rooms from my childhood, so there is a nostalgia feel, but they haven't been super well maintained. There was dust in a lot of corners. The restaurant/cafe downstairs was nice. But we always had to wait for someone to serve us at the cafe. The food and drinks were good. The chowder was great! There was no room service, we had to pick up take out drinks from the restaurant downstairs. Still nice to have but not used to having to get our own room service. We thought there was a microwave in the room but there wasn't, only small fridge.
The part we really didn't like, is we stayed for three nights and there was no room cleaning at all. We were traveling with a toddler so having garbage taken out daily would have really improved the experience. We did leave a message for housekeeping to bring extra towels and coffee and they were promptly delivered. We did check out the pool and it was nice, with locker room, washroom, sauna and shower. There was also a small fitness room. The parking is across the street. Not a big deal, but the instructions were insufficient and the signage was almost non-existant. The drop off at the front of the hotel is tight but this didn't cause any issue. Excellent downtown location.
