Beautiful Views!

Cozy cabin has a nice deck to sit outside and enjoy the water views! We had cool, rainy weather, but the firepit and wood burning stove were fantastic. No wi-fi or hair dryer, but that is certainly not a deal breaker. Having a boat dock was great. The steps to get to the cabin are no joke, pack light! So glad the steps were wrapped in string lights since we arrived at night. Great stay!

Celebration of life

What an amazingly beautiful location! The house was perfect for 5 adults. Loved all the outdoor seating and access to the water. The stairs were a challenge, as there are many, but it just forced us to have all we need so we could take advantage of the property, which none of us complained about. Thank you for opening up your home! We all want to come back again:-)

Awesome CDA cabin

Enjoyed the holiday weekend at this great cabin. Location was great. Dock was perfect to try boat up to and to even fish off of. BBQ made dinner for easy to prep. 3 couples. Plenty of room. Comfortable. New stairs are very nice and not bad. We used our host to bring most of our stuff and just had a short load off and easier unloading. If you have a boat we would totally suggest this method. We would stay here again

Summer family vacation

This was the perfect lake cabin for our family vacation! Check in was easy! Property manager allowed us to check in early and check out late! The whole house including kitchen and bathrooms were well stocked! Plenty of space for 5 adults and 2 teenagers. The dock was only a few steps away and it was brand new and nice! Extra chairs to sit on the dock and tons of floaties. The hot tub was nice in the evening and one day when it rained on us. Perfect patio for the adults to watch kiddos swimming and sitting out in the morning and nights. The BQQ had a full tank of propane and an extra tank! Property manager was responsive, answered calls/texts when we first arrived and got a bit lost. Close to downtown CDA and less than an 20min boat ride to the resort! Perfect location of boating, tubing and getting out of the “hub” of the lake. Overall, was a fun week and would definitely come back again!!

Vacation

We had a great time. The house was clean and looked just like the photos. It was great to be right on the lake with the dock. Canoe, and kayak. The parking was a little confusing, but we were the only car so it wasn’t a problem. I would have like some darker curtains in the rooms with the queen beds. The sun rose before 5:00 and by 5:30 we were up because it was so bright.

Beautiful home

The location is great. We can dock our boat and have easy access to the lake. The kitchen has a lot of cookware and good set of dishes to use, very convenient. We like the DVD collections. We love all the water toys provided including floating toys and kayak. The kids loved the hot tub,have great time in the cabin.

Pros & Cons

Pros: -Owners were kind, responsive and reasonable -Yard, dock and lakefront are beautiful -Resort is about a 10 minute boat ride -Very nice deck overlooking lake -house was clean Cons: -30 minute drive to store. There are no restaurants or shops in the area -the stairs to get down to the house are horrendous. That was the worst part of the whole trip. It honestly had a big impact on our vacation because it was so awful going up and down. -the cabin looks bigger in the pictures. It’s pretty “cozy” -there were mouse droppings in the house but we were warned about that. We didn’t leave the door open but I’m sure it’s easy for them to get in -parking is terrible and good luck trying to get an Uber. This created a logistical challenge when family would come visit. They had to park at a Marina about 15 minutes away and we had to shuttle them over. -the neighbors are close (one on each side). -beds aren’t very comfortable My advice is to not stay here unless you have a boat. That way you can avoid the stairs if you want to go somewhere.

Great Vacation Spot

This is a Great Lake property. Right on the lake with and excellent dock. Plenty of room for six adults. Very well stocked with supplies. Hot tub was a great bonus. Loved out time there!

Trouble in Paradise

Our family had a great stay at this property 80% of the time, but I wouldn't recommend it unless the negatives are addressed by the property owners. POSITIVES: location incredible; views are majestic; the house was well-appointed, cozy and very clean; the dock and boat slip perfectly convenient; nice deck/outdoor seating area. NEGATIVES: undisclosed legal easement allows neighbors on both sides to come and go across the property anytime, so there's no privacy outside; septic smell was wafting in the air periodically.

GREAT TIMES IN A GREAT PLACE!

The Barn Owl Cabin offered everything we were hoping for in terms of comfort and coziness...and more! The well-equipped kitchen (including blender that we used for our homemade salsa), aquatic toys (canoe & kayak), hot tub (perfect for the cooler weather we had early on), corn hole set (when it got warmer), and fire pit (including skewers for Smore roasting) made our stay filled with fun and lasting memories. We also rented a pontoon boat (which we were able to keep overnight at the provided dock) that allowed us to take long tours around the lake. And while we were certainly impressed with the dozens of lake-side mansions situated around the lakeshore, Iʻm not sure any of them come close to the charm, fun, and comfort of the Barn Owl Cabin. We definitely hope another stay is in our future.

Amazing location.

This property is absolutely beautiful. The property manager was so easy to work with and very accommodating. The unit was extremely well stocked with everything you could need. We had such a great time. My only word of caution is to be prepared for the "trip" from the parking area to the cabin and back.. It is literally 100 stairs, so unloading and loading was a bit challenging.

Great place. Great vibes!

Excellent from check in to check out. Beautiful space. Super close to neighbors. And other reviewers said they weren’t kind but I find people are kind if you’re kind. And we met some new friends and had a blast. If you’re looking for privacy, you’re close to the neighbors for sure! But the house. The space. And the lake is straight gorgeous. Immaculate. Clean and super responsive hosts. The stairs are no biggie. Park below to drop off and then drive back up to park. Enjoy. We will be back. Thanks Nate and Michelle!

Really enjoyed our stay and being right on the water

We absolutely loved staying here. It was perfect for our large group. The kitchen was well stocked with pots and pans, the bedrooms were lovely too. We brought our boat and the dock was really nice to use. The fire pit and kayak were also enjoyable and used a lot. We definitely appreciated the easy check out, there wasn't a long list of things we had to do and they removed the garbage for us after our stay which was a huge bonus.

Best vacation ever

If you value a clean and organized house then this will hit the spot. We did not feel "icky" taking a shower or lounging around. Updated bathrooms and comfy beds Property owners communicated almost instantly on messages. The house is a 25 min drive to CDA. Every picture you see of the property does not fully paint the wonderful experience you will have. The elderly people in our group enjoyed the balcony and the view. Us younger ones and kids were goofing around at the dock swimming and jumping from everything we could climb on to. Place is perfect for swimming. Small kids have a shallow area. It was so nice to walk out the kitchen and to the water in less than 15 seconds. Once again I cannot describe how well this place hit the spot for people who love water and taking in the views. Some things to consider: There are 105 stairs to get to the property. The stairs are extremely sturdy and well made. I carried a large bucket down using the rails as support and the stairs were so grippy that my footing was stable and great even when I leaned sideways into them. This place was so nice that even our elderly and out of shape parents did not complain about having to use the stairs. Having such a bad attitude as to complain about some stairs at an otherwise perfect property is sad. My wife and I used the stairs as a workout every morning. Climb up the stairs, (including the 4 wooden ones at the top) turn left and go up around the loop and down on the other side. Do that 10 times in a row in under 40 minutes and the beer afterwards will taste extra good. I made the trip a total of 64 time. My plan was 100 but once the vacation bloat and lethargy kicked in we got progressively lazier. Again, there are stairs, and again, they will not hurt you just use it as an opportunity to get some blood flowing crybaby! The kitchen has some cabinets that stick out right under the section you will most likely do food prep. You will hit your head. We made a joke out of it and counted who would hit their head most often. Grandpa won. A soft rubber pad would help. Don't try to be nice to the people west of you. They are jerks. No social skills and just awkwardly rude. They will pretend that they cannot see you so don't bother waving, smiling or trying to socialize. They don't want anything to do with you. Even if you go to bed at 8PM and never play any music at all they have a stick up their behinds. We booked this place for 10 days next year already! AWESOME!
