Wonderful

The cabin was amazing and had everything we could’ve needed. There were so many games and fun activities, fire pit, grill, and super close (walking distance) to Higgins Lake. We brought a pontoon and there were accommodations for the extra parking space we needed. The 4yo in our group was always occupied, lazing around and relaxing was so easy- inside and out. I couldn’t recommend this property more. We had a wonderful time.

It was great!

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Barney’s Place! We had a few rainy days so we utilized the games in the garage game room - we had ping pong tournaments and foose ball tournaments. When the weather cleared up, we rode bikes, and played corn hole, ladder ball, checkers and Jenga. The fire pit was perfect and used every night for ambiance and making s’mores. There’s lots of rocking chairs on the back porch to relax on. It was the perfect place to stay!

Great vacation!!

The house is so nice with the 2 bathrooms, the sunroom, many games, amenities. So close to the lake. Beautiful walks for our dogs. The lockbox was not functioning well but we used the garage opener for in and out. Beds were comfortable. 2 fridges are an extra bonus!! We'll be back next year!

2024 Vacation

This is the second time we stayed at the barney house. We love how it's prepared for us to relax and have fun. The screened in back porch is ideal, the garage and the back yard is set up for the kids to play. Plus its a short walk the the public beach area.

Great place to stay!

We enjoyed our time at Barney’s place and all the amenities it had to offer. I don’t think there was anything we needed that the house didn’t have. Super comfy beds, plenty of space and great location. Would definitely stay here again!

This is where tranquility would go to relax!

Property was amazing. Clean, comfortable, quiet. Nicely and funly decorated. There were games everywhere. Board games, card games, yard games. The screened in porch was great, as well as the deck & fire pit. Deer & black squirrels roamed freely. The beds were comfortable, kitchen had everything we needed (and more). It was so peaceful. You couldn't even hear a car going by. The host has really put there all in to this rental. Amazing!

Great stay!

Such a nice vacation home. Clean, everything working as described. Lots of extras such as yard games, bikes to use, ping pong, garage for our bikes, nice neighborhood, lovely yard space and deck, 2 refrigerators, close to lake. Loved the sunroom! Host so nice! Will definitely return!

Perfect getaway at Lake Higgins

We absolutely loved this retreat. It was secluded, yet a very short walk down to the park, beach and beautiful Lake Higgins. The inside of the home was beautifully decorated and stocked with everything we could need! The beds were incredibly comfortable with pillows and blankets galore. We made meals every day and took walks every morning and evening. Coffee on the back deck started each day off in the right direction and bomb fires at night, was the perfect ending to the most relaxing time we have had in over a year! Thank you and we are already planning our next trip up to what I feel is one of Michigan’s best kept secrets.

Respite in the woods and near Higgins Lake

If you are looking for an amazing house with every amenity you could need, look no further. With 3 bedrooms (+ a murphy bed!) we had plenty of room for our group of 5. The kitchen was clean and well stocked, the 1.5 bathrooms were plenty for us, and we enjoyed the screened in porch, deck and outdoor games. We also brought our dog who enjoyed walking in the neighborhood and meeting the friendly Golden next door. We would definitely stay here again!

Annual trip

We enjoyed our annual trip this year. The weather wasn’t the greatest with the rain and fog but we made the most of it. This house had the perfect accommodations with a large 2 car garage and multiple games for us to play as we waited out the rain. It was the perfect accommodations for our friend group. We would definitely rent again.

Great family getaway

This place was a hidden gem, location was great. It was in close proximity to the lake. This home was clean, nicely decorated and spacious for two families. The owner did a great job at creating a great space for entertaining. I appreciated the details such as having plenty of games to play with, bikes to use, cleaning/cooking supplies, trash cans for bottles and an even extra fridge in the garage. Shawnna was excellent with communication, she quickly responded to any questions and was very accommodating to our group. Overall, we enjoyed our time and would like to stay here again.

Great Stay

My family and I really enjoyed the home and the location. It is just a short walk to the lake and there were bikes and ping pong in the garage along with cornhole/bags. The owner was very accessible via phone. We are looking forward to going back in the summer sometime. Highly recommend!

Great Labor Day on the Lake

The house was clean and a close walk to the lake. The games around the house were a nice touch. We enjoyed the charcoal grill and fire pit in the backyard. Communication with the owner was easy.

Even better than expected

First time booking with VRBO, we have used its competitor in past. Probably our favorite place so far, and literally booked it right before vacation (A nice extended weekend). The photos and description of this property does not do it justice. Such a nice place for a family of four & our dog. It has everything you need, just bring clothes and food (we completely overpacked). It has plenty of games for for kids and adults. It’s a nice walk down to the water. It’s just far enough from the main road, but yet close enough. As other reviews had mentioned, A gift certificate was provided for a cute little market up the street, which was awesome. We spent a day at South Higgins Lake State Park which is a short little drive, and the next day on a pontoon boat from B&B Marina. Our only regret was not having more time in the house.

Fun and Relaxing

Our group really enjoyed this relaxing wooded retreat! The home was perfect for our group of 4 with room to spare. We loved the games and activities and the short walk to the lake. We also really appreciated the gift certificate to the local market!
