Awesome location!

The location was great! Super convenient close to gas station, stores and airport. Especially great because it was steps from Carlsmith Beach Park which we greatly enjoyed. The pool was clean and perfect temperature and everyone we encountered was very friendly. The parking spot was perfect and check in was easy. The building was older which we were expecting and the condo itself had been cleaned very well though the pillows need replacing because one smelled awful. The appliances are a little out of date but they worked just fine. Dishes had been put away dirty which was gross. Ultimately this was a perfect home base for exploring the island and a great place to have a low-key day at the park and pool. We would stay here again.

Great Stay

We enjoyed our stay here. The place was a great stay for 4 of us. Very clean!! Parking spot up front is awesome. There is not an ocean view from patio, only a view of the right side of the pool and garden. Right bedroom has the ocean view. However, you are right on Carlsmith beach when you walk outside. The upstairs neighbors were very, very noisy, banging and slamming on the ceiling throughout all hours of the day and night, but that is not in the hands of the owner. No AC as the listing mentioned, however the provided fans and opening the windows were enough to keep us cool at night. Beach supplies (snorkels, masks, fins) and beach towels were provided. I would suggest more regular towels in general. The washer and dryer on the floor worked great, no issues, just pricey. The shower in the unit has great water pressure. The unit is in a great location, close by to the airport, town, and nearby beaches. The listing contact person was very nice and responsive to my questions prior to the stay. He did accommodate late checkout, but then declined it last minute, the last full day of our stay which was very, very disappointing. He said it was due to the owner scheduling an inspection, which was out of his hands he stated. That would be the only real complaint we had, as it messed up our last day plans. The pictures on the site versus the actual furniture were slightly different, it looked as if they improved the couch and patio furniture. I’d suggest adding 4 chairs on patio.

Nice condo. View of ponds/bay from bedroom.

Condo was fine. Rained a lot, but loved being close to the park and ponds. Condo has everything you need including beach toys. Kids upstairs liked to run so a little noisy, but we were out a lot so it was fine.

Located on a beautiful park

It was very nice but be aware that there is no air conditioning. That worked fine for us but some people might not like it. The location is beautiful and very peaceful.

Going Back Home

We loved the location of the property and the condo itself. It was great for my brother, sister-in-law and myself. The unit doesn’t have ac and with warm temperatures and high humidity during the time we stayed we were a bit warm. The unit has fans that helped a lot. The unit’s parking lot is in a great location. We loved the condo and would stay again on our next trip. I and my brother were born and raised in Hilo and were back to visit family and friends.

Great value for the money. Close to a beautiful park. Living room furniture not as shown. Very uncomfortable tiny couch and a chair more suited to a teenager bedroom. Not easy to get out of.

Clean but old. Poorly set up. No air conditioning. No view from the living room. Poor uncomfortable furniture. Kitchen was adequate. Poor tv with awful sound. Lightning very poor. Kind of a sad place.

Overall good. Negatives: When we came the rooms had not been cleaned. Apparently there was a miscommunication with the people before us... in any case, we found the house not cleaned. There is no shampoo and no beach towels. Had to ask for both. The manager said they could provide beach towels, but not shampoo. It is the first time I have this happen. The VRBO website was very non user friendly when I tried to contact them by phone (they did not accept messages through the VRBO page). I arrived late at night at the property (11 pm). I had missed the email with sign in information. That was the only email we had. If for whatever reason, I had lost that email, it would have been impossible to communicate with anyone from VRBO late evening (11 pm). Thankfully found the email buried among many, but if I had not seen that, we probably would have needed to find another accommodation for the night. There is no AC in the house, despite it being mentioned in the VRBO page. There are however fans. It is found on the side of the island most further away from most beautiful beaches of the island. Good: Relatively cheap Very near Hilo airport, but no noise Nice beach only 5 minute walk away There is more or less all that you need

Everything went smoothly from check-in to check-out. Property was adjacent to popular Carlsmith Beach park which our teens loved. This was a good location for exploring Volcano NP, southern sites (Puna) and northern Hamakoa coast. Plus Hilo had a fun, eclectic vibe.

Great place!

Beautiful stay

Everything went good, we really enjoyed our stay in the condo. The flat is spacious and confortable and the location is easily reachable. We would really like to come back again if possible. Mahalo for everything!

Affordable and comfortable stay.

My rating is based on staying in a hotel or at this property for two weeks. It was less expensive and I didn’t felt trapped like I would have in a hotel. Location: Easy access to the shoreline. Lots of families picnic there on weekends. Driving to downtown Hilo and local grinds was less than fifteen minutes. There’s actually a nice seafood restaurant right across the street. The property itself (condo building) is aged. There’s an assigned parking stall. Elevators to upper floors. There is no A/C but there are floor fans and ceiling fan in the unit. There’s a fridge, electric stove top and oven, microwave, coffee maker, and blender. TV with limited cable. One shared bathroom for two rooms with queen beds. Sofa and love seat. TV with spectrum cable. Patio with furniture. Overall the stay was comfortable. The unit does get a little muggy given the weather in Hilo. Our stay was mid August. In the back there’s an avocado and papaya tree but the fruits weren’t ripe. Hilo Farmers market is the place to get fruits and vegetables from tropical exotics to basics. It’s way cheaper than going to a Market. Favorite eateries: Kawamoto Store; Cafe 100, K’s Drive In, Yelp is available but we rented a car.

Great place, exorbitant fees

The condo is comfy and the park next door is absolutely awesome. But! Be sure you you understand the fees before you click “confirm!” There’s the base price, $115 tax, mandatory $14.50/night damage insurance, $100 cleaning fee plus $97 listing fee. With all that it’s much more than the nightly fee. Yes, it’s all there in the fine print, but I was excited about going to Hawaii and somehow missed it. Great place if you know what you’re actually being charged

Good for price.

So not bad but man it was hot and bright in unit. No fans in rooms so hot hot hot. And the blinds were only 70% there. On the plus side nice pool and beach is great. Close to everything and again good value for price.

Fun in the Sun

Relaxing stay. Condo had all the amenities we needed. Lagoon was right behind the Condo so could go in water anytime you liked. Garden around the yard so had some fresh bananas and herbs. Road back to town a little busy during peak hours so give yourself some extra time.
