We were given a room with extremely moldy & musty smell. Then exchanged with a disabilities room rather than same type. No shower enclosure, water goes everywhere when showering. There are no hooks in bathrooms for towels, bathing suits for drying. Shower water temp. was not hot, but minimally lukewarm. Had 2 blackout power outages in the evening, then AC broke. Maint. came and tried to repair although was not fixed, had to call again 5 hours later. 2nd Maint. man repaired but also had to come back 1 1/2 hours later for 3rd repair.
Prices were expected to be higher than normal, although the restaurants are over-priced for portion size and quality even for a resort of this size.
The resort has signs posted that water is drinkable and staff advises there is no need to purchase bottle water.
The Restaurant 18 & Greene was extremely pricey, we asked for water and charged for bottled water that was not requested. My husband endured food poisoning for 5 hrs. from the Sea Bass that was consumed at this Restaurant. Management was minimally concerned when reported.
The Resort is gorgeous, very well landscaped & maintained. Hundreds of parrots, pairs of Toucan's and Macaws.
The pool is exceptionally clean & maintained.
Electronic info. in lobby is Spanish & English but rotates too quickly.
The Free Ecotour is exceptional with guide Chris.
Staff is friendly, but stiff & structured to template responses.
Lack of ability for easy, less costly, off-site options influenced rating.
