“We have booked this hotel for Monday, Tuesday and Wed nights (3 nights) one month ago, the hotel policy stated no refund and no cancellation allowed. My flight on Monday was cancelled, so I called hotel to keep my room since refund was not allowed. But when we checked in on Tuesday, the staff told us booking cancelled / no room reserved / didn’t receive reservation / need to call Expedia staff etc. However, we can book a room with the current rate which is almost double from what we paid……

“None of the reception staff appeared to speak any English. Not a problem as I am fluent in Mandarin, however this did mean they took turns to act busy ignoring me because I looked foreign - only looking up from their vital tasks when admonished by the manager to "take care of that guest". Language barrier aside, they were unwilling to help with basic things like booking transport to the airport (told us it was very difficult to book them), and were unable to offer any suggestions on alternative……
