“My family of four stayed at Dan's over Christmas. The downtown location was incredibly convenient, but the highlight for my kids was definitely the theater room. Between the theater apartment and the studio, we had two differently styled spaces to give us room to move and differentiate our activities. Would definitely stay again!”

“We were here for a conference and were so close to the event center where it was held. I think it could’ve been helpful having resources of how to use the skywalks as I think we maybe could’ve used those to get to the event center if we knew. “The property was as advertised and in great shape. Perfect place for downtown Des Moines and good communication from host on checking in and out. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that outside of the loft and the first floor bedroom it could have used some auxiliary heating due to the cold. Since it was january a lot of cold air gets in through the window which isn't the fault of the host but just be prepared. We would use it again despite this. ”

However, the ID verification process still needs some work since this is done externally outside of the VRBO platform. “The pictures the host posted of the property are deceiving. This rental is not “charming”, it’s very very old & not well-cared of; the stairs to the property in the back (which is the way you are instructed to enter) are treacherous. There isn’t lighting outside to maneuver the stairs and I’m sure they aren’t up to code. You’re met with a hanging chain that hits you in the head upon opening the back entry way door. The main floor toilet had been used and was not clean. There were bugs throughout……

“This place was great. I read some of the previous reviews and besides a couple of very small pieces of trim missing and a few drywall cosmetic holes from nails it is exactly as described. Found our lock box with no problems, all codes and keys worked perfect. The location is amazing, right above Hello Marjories for an easy craft cocktail! Fresko, Centro, and Django all an easy walk. Will def stay again. ”

“This location was so close to some great areas downtown in DSM, couple blocks from the sculpture park and a couple minutes from the Hoyt Sherman Place where we enjoyed a show! The building was so nice and quiet, with a beautiful patio out back to relax or swim as well! The unit itself was so clean and cozy, with a lot of space and a very comfortable bed with a great view :) I’d love to come back again and highly recommend this place!
