Conveniently within 15 minutes of either downtown Kansas City or KCI (MCI) airport, and just minutes from dozens of restaurants and two hospitals. Paying homage to history, the Bird House has at least one 'bird' in each room. How many can you find during your stay in the entire upper level of this recently updated home?
I am available from 8 am through around 9 pm 7 days a week. I do my best to respond within minutes. Occasionally, it takes longer.
Your monthly rent includes a linen exchange and light cleaning from the owner or their cleaning company every few weeks.
Please park on the LEFT half of the driveway or street (preferably downhill from driveway). Basement resident uses the right half of the driveway and garage with an often varied work schedule.
There is an apartment in the basement that is occupied by a long-term tenant. Neither unit has access to the other unit.
The tenant parks in the garage, on the right-hand side. Please leave the right side of the driveway open so they are not blocked in.
Emergency Info
No landline in the house. Use your cell phone for 911 for Kansas City first responders.
Fire Extinguishers located in kitchen pantry (Red for general, White for grease fires)
First Aid Kit located on laundry room shelf.
Water Shut Off for washer is in laundry room. Main shut off is in basement bathroom closet, lift off the wood lid. Please knock on stairway door or contact your host.
Electrical Breakers are located in basement. Please knock on stairway door or contact host.
Kitchen
New appliances, so please help keep them clean.
Counters have motion-sensing lights (swipe on, swipe off), and dim night light buttons.
Filtered water (sink and fridge). Kansas City uses chlorine, so filtered tastes so much better.
Detergents and cleaners under sink.
Laundry
Hall bathroom has front-load washer/dryer. Detergent provided. Please remember washer can’t be opened until the cycle is done. Please leave washer door slightly open to avoid musty smells.
Barbeque grill
Available for your use. After all, this is Kansas City, known for barbeque.
Please pull the grill away from the house to avoid damage to siding.
You will need to open the valve on the tank. Please close valve when done.
No fires allowed. Although there is a fireplace and firewood on the patio, please refrain from guest use.
Please leave the front porch light on for increased visibility of stairs and neighborhood norm.
In case of snow or ice, a container of ice melt is on the front porch.
Recycle (KC takes all but glass) and Trash Day is Thursday. (Trash usually early). Put at driveway corner.
Canterbury Estates is one of the more established and coveted neighborhoods in Kansas City due to its proximity to downtown (10 minutes), the airport (10 minutes), historic Parkville shops and parks, shopping (Zona Rosa and numerous niche locales), and restaurants (in the Tuileries off NW 64th and Barry Road).
Evidence of damage due to significant construction materials, abrasives, or fabric, e.g., excessive mud, sheetrock dust, concrete dust, asphalt, shingle particles, cement, tar, oil or other materials that cause excessive wear, scratches, or cleaning of floors or carpet are subject to a $500 additional cleaning/ remediation fee. Unfortunately, due to damage from past guests, we remind that this home may not be appropriate for groups who do not exercise moderate levels of self-cleaning during their stay.
