Since we were warned that renovations were underway on the property, I was prepared to have a suite that was in need of redecorating. We had also been warned that the restaurant was closed and the main lobby under construction. I accepted that because I did not have time to rebook.
I was, however, not prepared for the lack of security for the guest rooms. Although there was a lock pad at the door to the 3rd floor room corridor, a large plant was used to hold the door open. When I lodged my concern to the hotel manager he indicated that the plant was in place from early morning until 10:00PM. Actually, there were some nights when it was never removed.
I thought it ironic that as a guest it was my responsibility to secure my valuables in a safe and to secure my balconies with a dead bolt lock, but the main entrances to the building, the elevator and the room corridors were basically open to anyone who was passing by.
I am a seasoned traveler. I was shocked at the lack of security and the manager’s lack of concern.
