Everything you've dreamt for your Maui Vacation is here. BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, THIS IS A LEGAL VACATION RENTAL PROPERTY. There are very few homes that can be legally rented for short-term vacations and those that cannot be are being shut down. Keep this in mind when selecting your rental!

This large estate home is nestled on the desirable sunny South Shore of Maui. And, it's right on the beach! This lovely traditional Hawaiian home was custom built for a prominent local family in 1946 and has been fully restored yet retains all its original charm.

This beautiful home is nestled on a large lot, adjoining a beautiful beach reserve, which is an ideal place for children to play safely. The golden sandy beach has small waves making it perfect for family outings. Ideal for snorkeling, swimming, fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding, long walks or simply to watch the sun set with a glass of wine.

The private pool is located off the living and dining areas on the ocean facing lanai. There is a gas BBQ and outdoor shower just off the kitchen entrance, ideal for rinsing off after a day at the beach. A 2nd covered lanai overlooks the lush garden and is the perfect place to relax and read a book.

The home features 3 spacious bedrooms each with a private en suite bath. There is also a semi private sleeping loft.

Bedroom 1/Oceanview Bedroom: California King Bed w/ full attached bathroom.

Bedroom 2/Garden view Bedroom: Four Twin Beds w/ full attached bathroom.

Bedroom 3 (Loft): Two double beds are in a loft bedroom off Bedroom 2. They share the bathroom with bedroom 2.

Bedroom 4/Main floor Bedroom: Two Queen Beds with full attached bathroom.

*Please note that accommodating 14 people is under the assumption that the party is a mix of adults and children based on size of beds in the loft and the necessity to share some sleeping spaces*

Located in popular Kihei Town, you are within walking distance of parks, restaurants and shopping as well as tennis and basketball courts.
Important to note: The County of Maui has begun to aggressively shut down illegal vacation rentals. Without fitting the criteria of County of Maui Ordinance No 4167 Bill No 75 (2014) or having a short term rental license, a property cannot be legally rented.
The criteria of the Ordinance applies to our house. It is located on property zoned A-1 Apartment District and was built in 1946. When a property is zoned A-1, has received building permits and was built prior to 1989, there is no restriction on the length of occupancies that can be accepted. Vacation and short-term transient rentals are entirely legal. In the case of our property, it was built in 1946 for Joseph Tam Sing and family. The original building permit and tax records dating back to the 1940's can be readily located via County of Maui Online Services site under "Certified History Field and Parcel Books to 1987".

While we strive to keep all photos up to date, there may be new and updated pieces of furniture or décor that are different than in the original pictures. The functionality, available seating and sleeping space will remain the same or may improve.Other things to notePlease note: Upon confirming your reservation, we will request your personal email address. Beautiful Property!

The property is beautiful with lots of space inside and out! It is within walking distance of stores and restaurants. Stayed with a family group of 6 adults and 2 small children. The view of the beach with the grassy area and palms trees was outstanding! We played many rounds of bocce ball on the grass and the kids spent a great deal of time playing there too. Plenty of beach chairs and towels are provided as well as some sand toys for the kids. The house is a little older and dated and could use some upgrades but it felt quaint and easily met the expectations of our family group. The house was in a very quiet area and with secure parking and plenty of privacy. We would definitely stay there again!

Idyllic stay w beautiful sunsets

We thoroughly enjoyed out stay here. The sunsets are just spectacular, and we chose to bring dinners in and watch them rather than eat out at restaurants. Location is perfect, just a bit outside Kihei, so quiet and relaxing. The pool and yard are great, played wiffle ball and ran around a lot. Saw turtles every day, swimming by or laying on beach. The house is comfortable, kitchen well stocked, and plenty of room for everyone. We will be back.

As Beautiful as it Looks

I was afraid the pictures of the back yard were too good to be true. To my delight, they’re accurate! The vast back lawn and beach are stunning!! The beach is nearly vacant and the house has everything you could need. Wonderful stay!

What a great visit!

We had a wonderful time at Halama House-it is exactly as advertised. Being able to walk a few steps to the beach each night for the sunsets was wonderful and being able to sit on the lanai and eat even with the wind blowing was a plus. The house is large, had comfortable furniture, a well equipped kitchen with plenty of supplies and we never felt crowded. The kids loved their "private pool".They have lots of beach toys but the beach chairs were locked up and we didn't think soon enough to ask for the combination to the bin-but we survived without them. The only thing we would have asked for was tutorial on how to use the many remotes for the TV-a minor inconvenience. We would love to stay there again....

Perfect !

The property was everything it was described as - and then some ! Absolutely beautiful and everything we needed and wanted was right at our fingertips ! Grandkids ranged from 5 to 17 years old - each and everyone of them played until they couldn’t. The pool was a definite plus - adding just one more option for cooling off . Beautiful location for family stay

This property is fantastic for a large family or group wanting to relax in a lovely, quiet beach location with access to stores, restaurants, and nearby activities. The management team was easy to communicate with, the house was as pictured and described, and we had no issues at all during our stay. The beach in front of the house is perfect for little ones and we saw lots of turtles swimming about.

Outstanding!

We thoroughly enjoyed our two weeks in Maui, thanks in large part to the quality of our accommodations. With a wonderful in-ground pool and easy beach access, this place is fantastic! While mostly perfect, there were a couple of very minor issues during our stay, and management was right on top of them. Things were taken care of same day. We look forward to returning to Maui and hope Halama Hale House will be available then. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Management company doing a great job!

This property is well maintained by highly competent people. When the power went out during a storm, there were already flashlights in each of the bedrooms. Home had all the amenities and was extremely well organized. The CB team was very responsive and thorough. The Internet was solid. Property is walking distance to food and shopping. Marvelous variety of wildlife on the property, including a mascot dove that would visit us each day. I also recommend you visit nearby 808 Wellness for an excellent massage by Mary. Miso Phat sushi is across the street and go a little early because they are popular, for good reason.

Anniversary and Reunion

The view and beach access are superb. The house was well stocked with kitchen utensils and tableware. There were enough beds for everyone. The key issues were airflow and A/C. While asking us not to run the units until nighttime did not allow for a cool stay, we did try to follow that. However, with people taking naps and a baby requiring a different sleep schedule it was impossible to be comfortable inside unless the air condition was running in the bedrooms. Only one of the 4 A/C units worked consistently. It took about 2 hours to properly cool a room down once they were turned on. We did try to contact management but because of traveling and activities could not arrange a maintenance visit. Also, the fans in the living room were so wobbly and noisy we were afraid they were going to fall on our heads. The ones in the kitchen cannot be adjusted so they barely functioned. The lighting was dim in living area and kitchen. Do not plan to play games or do puzzles. Not all windows had screens and after trying to cool the house off, our little 1 year old grandson actually stepped on a bee that was in his room! We took out the garbage daily and cleaned the counters. There were still ants in the kitchen, two of the bedrooms and a cockroach in the bathroom. One shower had no water pressure and one was so small you could not open the shower door without flooding the whole bathroom when entering. Directions for entry were not clear or concise and we were not provided with an entry code for the actual property. It took 15 minutes of walking around and finally calling to actually get the code for the gate to the house. Overall, we still had a wonderful time (It’s Hawaii and we were together!) and loved the yard and pool area. We realize the house is not equipped with all modern conveniences but for the price we paid we expected a more comfortable experience. As much as we loved being by the ocean and beach, we could not recommend this location without disclaimers.

Perfect location and facilities for our family

We loved the pool right off the patio. Huge lawn for family games and the small beach with gentle waves made it comfortable of swimming and shell hunting. Shade from palm trees and the covered patio made for protected (from sunburns) outdoor lounging Lots of beach towels, lawn chairs, water and lawn games. Also felt very secure in gated community. Kitchen well equipped with plates, glasses and flatware. So enjoyed our stay. We will be back.

Great Family Getaway in Kihei

Location, location, location! This property is ideally situated with a wonderful grassy area that leads right into an accessible beach and ocean entrance - ideal for an easygoing family vacation. We were a short drive to Wailea and other sandier beaches, which we really enjoyed! Lots of space in the dining, living and outdoor areas for the family to be together for meals and downtime. The bathrooms and bedrooms are somewhat basic, but worked for our needs and had no issues! Anthony is the groundskeeper and is friendly and responsive. The CB Island team was great with communication!

Wonderful stay

The house was charming, clean and well stocked. It met our needs perfectly as each of the main bedrooms had a bathroom for each of our 3 families plus a room for kids. The pool was great. Loved dining outside. Perfect grassy area before the ocean that had a sandy beach. Nightly viewing of sea turtles coming on shore to rest! Great memories.
