“Truly an exceptional hotel. I grew up in the area and it has continued its history of providing an experience that excels (locals just call it “The Slieve”). The amenities are fantastic with the spa facilities, snooker room, drawing room for a peaceful morning. Breakfast in the main dining area with views of the Mounre Mountains is an experience itself. We hosted a family dinner in JJ Farrell’s food and service exceptional”

“This quaint little cottage off of the entrance to Tollymore Forest is perfect to just get away and mend your mental health. I will definitely be there again, perhaps yearly if I can afford it! Jo is easy to contact and is most helpful with everything. Thank you Jo, you are so loved 💚”

“Main standout quality of this hotel is it’s location. Beautiful views of The Mournes and very well maintained gardens. Also ample car parking space. If you want a quiet place to escape then this is it. Very attentive staff and excellent food. We did get the impression that one of the male staff was overworked- it seemed that he was absolutely doing everything, but must stress that he was an excellent ‘people person’ and that nothing was a bother to him. “Another great break at the briers. Ive stayed in the slieve donard, the avoca and the donard. The briers is easily my favourite. Beautiful surroundings, clean rooms, friendly and hospitable staff. Excellent value for money. Will definitely be back again before the end of the summer.”
