Just 10km west of Cherbourg, your gateway to: La Hague and Val de Saire, rugged coastlines and good food. Rated 3 stars (3 épis) by national authority for its location and comfort. Cottage for weekly rental in the park of the listed 16th century castle of Dur-Ecu. 300m from the beach… where the British Navy landed in 1522 and 1758 (trust the Admiralty for good records) and with uninterrupted views of the coast. From your windows you will see the scene of one of the famous naval battles of the American Civil War between Confederate Alabama and the United States of America, Kearsarge. Beautiful walks, short and long, on your doorstep. Renovated, tasteful and comfortable. Conveniently located near all shops, services.
Normandy has many 16th century Castles, but few of them are by the sea, and even fewer offer holiday homes for rent. Come and experience the magic of the Manoir de Dur-Ecu!

Holiday home for 4 people, plus 2 on sofa bed: Gîte du Moulin à Blé (Wheat Mill). Independent water mill on two levels. One bedroom with a double bed (1.40m wide) and a second bedroom with two single beds (1.10m wide). Access to the double bed bedroom is through the two beds bedroom. Bathroom with bath, shower and toilet, washing machine and dryer. Living room with 3 windows facing the sea, wood stove, smart TV: kitchen with microwave / classic oven, dishwasher. Terrace facing the sea with garden furniture. 1. 4 km from shops and services. Pets are welcome (Choose "X persons and pet" when booking).

The price includes water and electricity within the framework of 440 kWh / week for the heating period which is normally sufficient and 70 kWh from May to September. Rented as a holiday home (weekly and do your own cleaning).

We love cats and dogs, and they are very welcome. Please note that the garden is not fenced.

Do you need more space, with 4 sea-view rooms for 6 or 7 guests ? 7 kms away, and 500 m from a 12 km long sandy beach, we run a holiday cottage for a max of 7 guests, under property HAUK 11774646.

The cottage and, above all, the surroundings are beautiful – you have a sea view from the window and can see the impressive mansion and its gardens next door (which we were able to visit on Open Monument Day, definitely worth seeing). The holiday flat is equipped with everything you need; there is also an outdoor area with a natural terrace in the shade, where a soothing little stream flows. A special bonus: dogs are allowed. We were greeted very warmly and shown around. There were also pastries for us and treats for the dogs, wonderful! Philippe, his family and employees are charming hosts. We can recommend the accommodation and the location.

Good stay, nice house with some drawbacks

We had a lovely stay! We received a very warm welcome with fresh flowers and pastries. The house is beautifully situated and nicely furnished. The castle and its grounds are very impressive. The nearby beach is wonderful. We had a lovely time, but I can't give it full marks because there are a few shortcomings. The bathroom and kitchen are quite dated, and some things aren't in their best shape. The icebox in the fridge is broken, so there's always water in the fridge. Some of the stove's control knobs are missing, the shower head won't lock, etc. Unfortunately, some areas weren't entirely clean, as if the cleaning had only been superficial. For example, there was a lot of dust on the skirting boards, and some of the bedspreads were very stained and could use a wash. All in all, a good house, but not a top recommendation.

Sehr schöne, stilvolle und originelle Mühle auf einem riesigen Grundstück (mit Wald). Weitläufiger und ausgesprochen schöner Strand (hundefreundlich) fußläufig. Auch der Küstenwanderweg (Zöllnerpfad) in unmittelbarer Nähe. Sehr freundlicher, schneller und unkomplizierter Kontakt. Alles bestens ausgestattet. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und würden gerne wiederkommen.

Das gesamte Anwesen ist unfassbar schön! Die Gebäude, der Park, das Wäldchen - Wahnsinn, buchstäblich wie im Märchen. Das Ferienhäuschen ist toll, alles da, was man braucht. Ok, es ist nicht alles super neu von der Einrichtung her, aber absolut ok. In ein paar Ecken hätte es sauberer sein können, aber ansonsten war alles tipp topp. Kontakt war auch bestens. Lage könnte nicht besser sein, direkt an einem wunderschönen Wanderweg. Einzigartig: der Blick aus dem Wohnzimmerfenster aufs Meer. Wir werden noch oft an diesen zauberhaften Ort denken!

Séjour enchanteur

Séjour merveilleux dans un lieu magique sous la surveillance calme des âmes anciennes du manoir...Calme et chants des oiseaux sont les seuls bruits que l'on entend....gîte qui correspond à la description. Confortable, il y a tout ce qu'il faut. La mer est à quelques minutes à pied et au départ du gîte il est possible de faire de magnifiques randonnées ou tout simplement de se baigner. Je recommande vivement.

Sehr unkomplizierter Check-In.....kurze Einweisung mit einigen Hinweisen: Lage zu den Geschäften, Restaurants etcDie alte Mühle gehört zu dem umfangreichen Anwesen des Herrenhauses DUR ECU..... wir durften uns im sehr gepflegten Garten aufhalten; völlig ungezwungen....Zum Willkommen gab es leckere Biskuitkekse des Bäckers aus dem Nachbardorf: davon haben wir uns gleich die Mitbringsel gekauft!!Spaziergang zum Meer: über die keine Landstraße zum Wanderweg: Sentier des Douaniers.... bei Ebbe Platz ohne Ende; bei Flut verbleibt der Wanderweg und die Felsen der Uferbefestigung zum Hinsetzen und Wellenbeobachtung....Für Ausflüge ist ein Auto eher nützlich: teilweise sind die Entfernungen für das Rad zu groß!Insgesamt eine sehr stimmige Anlage: direkt am Waldrand und am Mühlbach gelegenFür 4 Personen ist das Haus eher eng; vorallem bei Regen.....

Vacances au moulin

Vacances très agréables dans un cadre magnifique. Paysages au rendez-vous, moments de détente en famille garantis. Logement dans le "moulin" très agréable, spacieux pour une famille de 4 personnes comme nous. Confort et équipements appréciables. Un plus pour les attentions (petits présents pour la famille et notre animal de compagnie à quatre pattes). Idéal pour découvrir la nature environnante : randonnées accessibles même aux débutants.
