Tahoe City is lovely, reminiscent of a village on a lake in the Swiss Alps (It could hardly get more beautiful or charming), and is also a short drive to Palisades at Tahoe. The Pepper Tree Inn is in the middle of town, walking distance to a the biking/walking path along the Lake, a wonderful lakeside public park and beach, a Safeway supermarket, numerous restaurants, ski/snowboard shops, and sits on a hill overlooking the lake. So I give the setting and location an A . It offers the best value for price in town (and would be more so if I hadn’t had to pay a $40 pet cleaning fee for one night for our poodle who doesn’t shed). On the downside, the appliances were dated (especially microwave, which required fiddling with the power cord to get it to work), but better than another place in TC we stayed that charged more and had no microwaves in the rooms or lobby at all. We were on the first floor and could hear every step of our upstairs neighbors, and they apparently had rambunctious kids (which I understand, as we do as well), who sounded like a herd of elephants stampeding above us. That’s just the nature of the building due to its age and construction. The front desk staff is very nice and helpful, but they are only on the property 3-10 pm. Overall, I would choose to stay here again if I returned to Tahoe City, and would recommend it to budget conscious travelers.

Shower was very good. Good pressure, quick hot water. Everything else was as expected for the price. Nothing fancy, but definitely a comfortable place for a few nights.

The Pepper tree is a great spot in Tahoe City if your are looking for a no frills affordable spot it stay while you Ski Palisades and Alpine meadows. The PT is a quick 10 min drive to the base parking lot at Palisades. No hot tub but still a great place. Staff was great, as well.

Shower had no flow ...hardly enough to get wet. After a long day skiing, need a decent hot shower. Toilet didn't flush well either. View is great, however from 3rd floor and higher. Very convenient location in Tahoe city. Parking spaces might be too narrow...got blocked in by rude guest leaving me 4 in between driver side that required me to climb in from my rear hatch.

It’s great to still have a comfortable and cozy reasonably priced lodging option at the lake. We’ll return! Our only issue was that we could not get the channel to watch the rest of the Warriors game in the room —we've never had problems watching our Bay Area team/NBA in motels across the country during bballl season.

The hotel is worn out - tatty carpets, mouldly showers, rodent traps in the hallway, broken coffee machine, noisy heater... It's on the street, seemingly designed to catch as much noise as possible. Not worth the price - or any price, really.

OK, this property is in need of some repairs (especially the stairways!), but the rooms were clean & comfortable & even though the desk was only manned gor a limited amount of hours, the staff was very helpful. Dining option accross the street on the lake was lovely.

The rooms are small. Needs a facelift. Several areas were peeling paint, drywall tape, just plain OLD! No room cleaning, minimal staff. Was better pre covid when they offered breakfast also.
