The Thunderbird Boutique Hotel is a super fun, retro spot with a lot of old-school Vegas charm. The building has that classic motel style, with every door painted a bright, cheerful 60s color — lime, lemon, turquoise, and orange — which gives the whole place a vibrant, playful vibe.
The pool area was a highlight, with lots of different loungers and shaded spots to relax. Plus, there was plenty of free parking, which made coming and going really easy.
There were a few hiccups during our stay — our room key kept getting deactivated and we had to have it re-keyed multiple times. Also, while the king bed was a nice size, the mattress was very uncomfortable and the pillows were probably the worst we’ve ever had in a hotel. That said, this isn’t billed as a luxury property, so you get what you pay for — and we knew we were there more for the cool experience.
The location is fantastic: just down the street from The STRAT on Vegas Boulevard, super easy to get around from there to anywhere else in the city. If you’re looking for a fun, affordable, and very “Vegas” place to crash (and don’t mind a few quirks), the Thunderbird is worth checking out.
